Josh was unable to ride and by the 14th GP Steve Ramon had taken over the championship lead. Kevin Strijbos and Sebastien Pourcel both had a chance to win the championships coming into Lierop so it wasn't finished yet.
In moto one Kevin Strijbos needed to score 13 points or more over Steve Ramon to make the last moto the deciding heat. Everything can happen in motocross so it was getting exciting when Kevin took an early lead. Ramon has been consistent over the season (did not win one single GP) and was consistent again in the sand to finish 2nd and won the MX1 championship. Marc de Reuver was charging till the last minute to finish third.
Moto two was exciting in a way as Dutch favorite Marc de Reuver was again battling up front. He wanted to show what he's got to those who talked shit about him after many injuries and some bad luck during his maiden MX1 season. The all or nothing attitude of the Dutchman paid off this time and he beat Kevin Strijbos for first. The crowd loved him all of a sudden (typically Dutch) but it was a nice way to end the season.
Antonio Cairoli showed why he's the world champ in the MX2 class by winning both motos in the Dutch sand.
