“I love this new remodelled track, they have built up the turns and really beefed up a lot of the straights which has made it more technical so it’s fun,” Buchanan said. “The fans here are wild, so it makes it one of the most enjoyable stops for us riders. I’m excited to get out and race tomorrow and hopefully I can put myself in a strong position to succeed.”
In the elite men, Turner continued his rich vain of form with an impressive performance to finish third, ultimately falling just .136 seconds behind winner Connor Fields. Compatriot Anthony Dean, who isn’t fond of time trials, finished in 16th.
Before the time trials, there were a number of Aussies in action in qualification with some impressive results recorded. Matthew Juster lead the way in the elite men qualifying in 20th, with Corey Frieswyk 24th, Tristyn Kronk 31st, Tom Siinma 36th and Josh Callan 44th. Unfortunately, David Habicht failed to qualify after he finished in 73rd.
In the elite women, Melinda McLeod qualified in 21st, while unfortunately Kirsten Dellar (26th) and Leanna Curtis (30th) failed to qualify.
