his path, it was task to keep it smooth and not make any mistakes. When the final turn was taken, the crowd brought the Brit home and the celebration could begin. Mariana Pajon did not lose one single race in Argentina and also won yesterday's Time Trials Superfinal. She was a favourite for the win but in BMX victories don't come easy. The Colombian made it work and grabbed the red leader plate back from Alise Post (USA) who finished third after crashing hard twice on Saturday. 2015 Elite Women World Champion Stefany Hernandez (VEN) secured second place and was happy with that result. It moved her into the top three in the 2015 standings.
The organisation in Santiago Del Estero had done an amazing job getting things in order to put on a great event. The grandstands were full for the third edition of the UCI BMX SX World Cup and the people came to see the best riders in the world battle it out at the single stop in South America. During Sunday's program each and every race is full of excitement. Making it to the next round simply requires full commitment and a bit of luck which some of the Argentinian riders experienced. Federico Villegas (ARG) and 2015 UCI BMX Junior World Champion Exequiel Torres (ARG) were so close to making the main in front of the local fans. Federico was in fourth on the last straight in the semi final when he got passed by Dutchman Jelle van Gorkom on the finish
line. The young Exequiel Torres was stuck in the back of the pack and tried to make it through to the front but did not succeed and ended on place 6 where the top 4 were taken to the final event. That's where Liam Phillips shined.
The leader of the World Cup was very content: "For me winning back to back is something the guys have really looked up to to achieve. Winning two World Cup Supercross races in a row is so difficult to do. Winning one World Cup is tough but to win Sweden and Argentina back to back is crazy."
When asked what the game plan was for the final in Rock Hill, USA, the Brit replied: "I really feel like in the past I've struggled to race frequently but I feel like I've changed things around with my training and I couldn't be happier that I've maintained such good form from one race to the next. I really felt like I was in good form today and I knew if I was capable to perform how I knew I could perform I would be difficult to beat, and that's the optimum really."Australian Anthony Dean and 2015 UCI BMX Elite Men World Champion Niek Kimmann (NED) completed the Men podium in second and third respectively.
Starting postion 1 on the inside was favourite on the supercross track in Santiago Del Estero. Mariana Pajon had first gate pick and chose lane 1. When the gate dropped she had another good start and put the power on at the first straight to grab the lead which she simply did not give away. Stefany Hernandez (VEN) made another podium as did Alise Post (USA) who recovered quickly after the two harsh crashes she encountered earlier in the week.Mariana Pajon: "I think this is my best win. The atmosphere and facility are unique and the Argentinian people welcome everyone. They make you feel like home, I feel like I'm in Colombia and it's awesome to be here. Today I did not lose any laps. I was super confident and got some really good gates and on the final lap I just destroyed my timing and that's what I wanted to do."
With one more UCI BMX SX World Cup on the schedule, anyone on today’s podium have a good chance to win the 2015 overall World Cup although Phillips and Pajon sits with the upper hand. Bring on Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA.
