out in the quarters in the World Cup finals in Chula Vista and if that happens in Rock Hill, Niek Kimmann (NED) still has a shot at number one. The 2015 UCI BMX Elite Men world champion faces a gap of 120 points behind Phillips. Kimmann is the only rider who grabbed double prize money by using the Elite Trax Lane 8 feature in Papendal, Netherlands. It was the only round that Phillips did not win.
Many countries chose to take their riders straight to Rock Hill after World Cup round four was wrapped up in Santiago Del Estero, Argentina. This included the current leader in the Men catagory Liam Phillips. Preparation for the final race of the year for the Brit was excellent with many sessions on the permanent BMX supercross track. Also the Dutch National BMX squad made that choice but unfortunately Jelle van Gorkom, who is sitting in third place in the World Cup standing, suffered a big crash in Thursday's practice breaking both collarbones and a rib. Although expected to make a full recovery, the vice world champion won't be able to get on the gate in Rock Hill.
With van Gorkom out, it opens up the opportunity for Sam Willoughby (AUS), Amidou Mir (FRA), Anthony Dean (AUS), plus Zabala Quendo (COL) and Connor Fields (USA) to move up a spot. The fight for third place overall is open.
With four American girls in the top eight of the current UCI BMX SX World Cup standings, the Time Trials superfinals on Friday 25 September will be a competition to watch as the women go around the track one by one trying to set the fastest lap. Mariana Pajon was unbeatable in Argentina at round four but Americans Alise Post, Felicia Stancil, Dani George and Brooke Crain will use home advantage to set the fastest lap giving them first gate pick the next day.Connor Fields has proven to be fast in the Time Trials events over the years and is aiming for that win on Friday in Rock Hill. Competition can come from different corners including 2015 UCI BMX Elite Time trials world champion Joris Daudet (FRA), Sam Willoughby (AUS), Holland's Niek Kimmann and of course the current leader of the World Cup: Liam Phillips.
Qualification racing in both Women and Men classes will also take place on Friday. 48 spots are up for grabs in the men class making it a field of 64 for Saturday's program when the pre-qualified Time Trial Superfinal racers join them. In the women category 24 spots are available as 8 of them are pre-qualified for next day's world cup race. Elite Men Qualification races start at 5pm on Friday. Time Trials Superfinals kick off at 8pm. After the warm-up sessions, Saturday's racing program starts at 6PM. At 10PM we will know who got crowned the 2015 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup Champions.
