A worldwide mecca for indoor BMX, the National Cycling Centre will see more than 180 riders from 23 countries race on the recently revamped track for a weekend of adrenaline-fueled racing, with riders going head-to-head in time trials and qualifying motos on Saturday 9 April and supercross finals on Sunday 10 April.
Liam Phillips, who enjoyed his best ever season in the competition in 2015 having won three of the five rounds in the series, said: “I’m looking forward to getting out there, I’ve done some good work and I’m ready to race. Of course there’s pressure as there are a couple of thousand people who come to watch, having a home winner is great for everybody. The track is super challenging, it will make for great racing.”
The 2016 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup returns to Manchester’s National Cycling Centre, the home of British Cycling, on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 April. Adult tickets start from just £12, with weekend passes, under 16 and family tickets available via Ticketmaster.
