The best BMX athletes in the world have gathered in Colombia for the UCI BMX Supercross World Championships this weekend. Team USA’s elite athletes opened up competition with a pair of fourth-place finishes in the Time Trial Super Finals on Saturday. Alise Post (St. Cloud, Minn./Redline USA) clocked the top result for the Americans in the women’s event with a 42.290 while compatriot Felicia Stancil (Lake Villa, Ill./GT Bicycles) was 11th with a 44.722. Caroline Buchanan (AUS) was the winner in 41.641.
In the men’s event, Nic Long (Lakeside, Calif./Haro Bikes/Dans Comp) was fourth with a 37.181 while American Corben Sharrah (Tucson, Ariz./Daylight Cycle CO) was ninth with a 37.562. Niek
Kimmann (NED) clocked the winning time of 36.858.
Prior to the World Championships, the UCI BMX World Challenge was held Wednesday – Friday. American athletes earned 12 medals in the 20” challenge class and seven medals in the cruiser class competitions.
