2021 UCI BMX World Championships are coming to Papendal, NL

Papendal has been awarded the BMX world championships in 2021. That is what the international cycling union (UCI) announced during the World Cycling Championships in Innsbruck. At the start of May, during the World Cup BMX at Papendal, Papendal, KNWU cycling union and sports marketing agency TIG Sports expressed the ambition to organize the BMX world championships in 2021. In mid-July, the bid was offered to the UCI, with support from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS), the Province of Gelderland and the Municipality of Arnhem. Today the UCI announced the award during the World Cycling Championships in Innsbruck.

"The World Cup competitions at Papendal have been a great success for years. We trust that the

organization will set a great world championship." Thus the international cycling union. BMX'er Niek Kimmann is pleased with the news: "I think it's really cool that the BMX world championships will come to Arnhem in 2021. It was very special to compete for the world title as a junior for their own audience. It is a dream to be able to do that as an elite, in 2021 at Papendal. "

About the BMX World Championships
The BMX world championships last 5 days with a total of 4,000 BMX players, in various categories from 5 years. All races take place on the BMX track at Papendal, because of the diversity in ages and classes a second start hill of 5 meters high is realized. The races at the sports center are combined with side events in the city center of Arnhem, such as a medal plaza and an Urban Sports Week. For the organization of the World Championship, Papendal cooperates with the KNWU and TIG Sports. The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Province of Gelderland and the Municipality of Arnhem support the event.

UCI BMX SX World Cup Competition May 2019
On 11 and 12 May 2019 Papendal organizes the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup for the ninth time in a row. The entire world summit then assembles at Papendal for two World Cup rounds, which are part of the UCI BMX world cup circuit. Also this year the matches are combined with the Framed Festival; where music, culture and good food and drinks are central.
