UCI BMX World Cup Papendal voted 'best event' for the second year in a row

The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, which was held for the eighth time at Papendal on 5 and 6 May 2018, has been voted 'best event' of the UCI BMX World Cup series for the second year in a row. This was determined by the international cycling federation UCI, the media, sponsors and international riders and coaches. This is the third time that the BMX World Cup at Papendal is voted the best event of the year, after the editions in 2013 and 2017. This year, the UCI praises, among other things, the quality of the track, the good organization and the atmosphere around the event.

Jochem Schellens, director Papendal: "We are honored with this award, it is very special that we

receive the award two years in a row. It is a reward at our work and again a confirmation that the set-up with the Framed Festival is well received. We look forward to, together with the Province of Gelderland, the Municipality of Arnhem, the KNWU and all other stakeholders, to expand the World Cup over the coming years to a fantastic world championship at Papendal in 2021. "

UCI BMX Supercross World Cup 2018
In addition to the World Cup at Papendal, in 2018 World Cup rounds were held in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (France), Heusden-Zolder (Belgium) and Santiago del Estero (Argentina). At Papendal there was a win for crowd favorites Laura Smulders and Niek Kimmann (Saturday). The next day American Alise Willoughby and Frenchman Sylvain André won the victory, silver was for Dutch athletes Judy Baauw and Twan van Gendt, Dave van der Burg won bronze.

Edition 2019
In 2019 the BMX World Summit at Papendal will compete in the weekend of 11 and 12 May. The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup at Papendal is then again combined with the Framed Festival, which this year will be expanded with an Urban Ground. The other world cups will take place in 2019 in Manchester (Great Britain), Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (France), Rock Hill (United States) and Santiago del Estero (Argentina).
