Denzel Stein (Desoto, Texas.), – received automatic nominations to the funded team while Joey Bradford (Monterey, Calif.) earned the coaches selection. Long and Herman were automatically selected as the top two riders in the current 2009 USA Cycling BMX Power Rankings in the U23 category while Stein was atop the Junior Men rankings.
Four women – Arielle Martin (Spanaway, Wash.), Alise Post (Saint Cloud, Minn.), Brooke Crain (Visalia, Calif.), and Taylor Wolcott (Roseville, Calif.), were all selected as coaches’ picks. Martin, the 2009 Overall Women’s Supercross champion leads this group as the most experienced rider while Post will be entering her fourth Supercross World Cup competition. Both Crain and Wolcott are graduates of the new USA Cycling Junior Development program where they spent extensive time training at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. The youngest of the women at 16 years of age, this will be Crain and Wolcott’s first attempt at racing the Supercross World Cup series
