With one more UCI BMX SX World Cup round to go in Santiago del Estero the World Cup ranking looks like this (below). In fact Laura Smulders has gained such a lead that she will get crowned UCI World Cup champion for the third year in a row today after the final race is over. In the Men class Niek Kimmann is in a good position as he is currently leading and basically needs to score more than 6 points if Joris Daudet wins. Ask Brian Foster if you think the race for the 2018 Overall is already over, he can explain that anything can happen in BMX. The race coverage can be watched live here on FATBMX. We advise you to do so.

Do you agree that the bronze medal of 2012 in London came a little as a surprise? Laura Smulders: Of course that bronze medal was a little bit of a surprise to me, I was only 18, had been training full time with the national team for one year at that point, and I still looked up to most of the riders that competed there. Nonetheless, I felt my absolute best racing in London, and was one of the fastest around the track, my first straight wasn’t strong enough in the semi finals, but I got it all together in the final and that was my best lap!
