BMX Race Ljubljana kicked-off the Dr. Auer BMX Alpe-Adria series, the most important competition for many young riders from Slovenia & neighboring countries. Sunday’s event also had a UCI C1 status, which gave the race even stronger international appeal. Strongest race of the week was won by German Philip Schaub. The weekend of racing at BMX Park Ljubljana, preceded on Friday by the fun-filled Argeta Junior KoloPark Pokal pump track event, attracted riders from Austria, Italy, Hungary, Germany & Slovakia, as well as the entire Slovenian BMX scene. The main motive for the riders in the Championships category was of course the UCI points, which count towards the qualification
C1 BMX Racing Live from Slovenia
Italian Mattia Furlan is the big winner of the 2021 BMX Race Ljubljana - he won both races of the weekend, on both occasions ahead of fellow Italians. Slovenian riders are strongest in younger categories, this is where they’ve shown the most and given hard time to the strong international competition. Title of BMX Race Ljubljana report is more than just a word game, top-3 finishers from the Sunday’s UCI C1 race were in the top three positions - and in the same order - on the Italian national champs earlier in the season. Mattia Furlan was again the strongest, winning two out of three motos in the elite category on the C1 race. Martti Sciortion was fastest in the second moto and took final 2nd place, Michele Tomizioli was third.
BMX RACE LJUBLJANA – RACE 1 VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS
The two-day event in BMX Park Ljubljana finished with the spectacular elite men finals with strong riders from Germany, Italy and Denmark fighting for the top honor. Slovenians dominated the junior categories and showed great potential for the future. There were in total 112 cyclist from Austria, Australia, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Hungary and Slovenia on BMX Race Ljubljana Powered by Toyo Tires. Race weekend started with AlpeAdria BMX Cup on Saturday, and that was already a spectacle of its own. Racing in junior & cruiser categories was great, but the treat of the day came with the 17+ race. German national champion Jonas Ballbach (Performance Team Stuttgart) was the first favorite for the race, and he won it ahead of the good friend of the track in Ljubljana, Italian Mattia Furlan (Carisma
