How many years ago did you start riding BMX?
Emilio Falla: The other day a kid asked me this, and man it sounded crazy, but it’s been 32 years of riding a BMX bike.
How was racing BMX when you lived in Ecuador?
Emilio Falla: In Ecuador we have a small series. I believe it’s only 7 stops, so it’s the opposite to the USA or Europe where you race more often.
Being a two-time Olympian representing your nation, how did that make you feel?
Emilio Falla: I’ve said this many times. It was an honor and a dream come true, specially being there as one of the pioneers of BMX racing in Beijing 2008. For sure I wanted a different outcome in Beijing and London but that’s BMX. It’s a beautiful sport but sometimes it’s brutal and everything happens too quick.

You have probably gone from Cro-Moly to Aluminium to Carbon. Does weight matter much to you?
Emilio Falla: I believe weight matters the most when you are a kid, now for me the most important thing is trying to get comfortable and the right setup.
