The National Bicycle League (NBL) is proud to announce the formation of a new national level partnership with Standard Byke Company. The Standard brand has earned a loyal following in both racing and freestyle over the past two-decades and their renewed commitment to racing is good news for fans of high quality products and rider-owned companies. Standard is one of only a handful of rider-owned companies in BMX and they continue to forge new ground in all areas of development and production. Rick Moliterno’s company has very recently taken over full control of production and manufacturing at their new factory in Davenport, IA. This will translate into a range of improvements to their already solid line of 125R race frames and forks plus a bundle of new products to compliment their American-Built line.
Moliterno, who has deep roots in bicycle motocross, is eager to see the racing side grow and the new partnership comes at a perfect time as the sport nears its Olympic milestone.
The Mount Baldy fullpipe is a spot that is legendary. These girls made it over and thought it was a little too hot that day and stripped down. They didn't stop shredding though. Remember, 21 and over only.
…..I don’t even know where to begin. This was the best bike contest ever at the Factory Skatepark and maybe the best contest here, period. 56 Riders came out and destroyed the place, competing in Park, Vert, Bunnyhop, and High Air on the 11 foot quarter. Talem Cowart started the day off right by bunnyhopping an astounding 46 inches, earning himself an unofficial world record by ½ an inch (for an official record, the equipment would have had to be exactly calibrated). The High Air event was a huge crowd favorite since they were allowed onto the course to watch from the base of the huge quarterpipe. Of the eight competitors, North Carolina’s Alex Johann and semi-local Kyle Kelsey were the two top dogs; Alex topped out at 9 feet but exploded upon re-entry. Kyle made it to eight and a half and rode away clean, pulling the win.
Riders can't remain the little kids that they once were. Bruno Hoffmann started out on a 16 inch bike and showed up at contests and entered them. Then it was time for the 18" wheel set up and over the last couple of years he grew so fast that he has become one of the dudes. He hangs out with the pros, makes finals in the pro street/park classes and he recently celebrated another birthday.
Well, it is done! The Miniramp at the Hidden Island warehouse is ready to rock. And rocking is our favorite thing, so we rock sessions every day. The biggest one, I remember, have been held as the ZWANZIG ZOLL Magazine from Berlin visited us to write an article about Hidden Island. But pictures tell more than thousand words, so enjoy the photos.
After 26 years of BMX in the legendary „Düsseldorfer Universität“ times are running out. The city started to build bricks in the „pipe“ so it will be impossible to ride it anymore. That's a shame! In the past 26 years a lot of riders from the whole world traveled to Düsseldorf to ride this insane spot. The first guy who use to ride it back in 1982 was Marijus Buntic. He busted the first 5 feet airs out of the ramp and -believe it or not- he is still riding at this spot with a bunch of „Uni-bmx“ oldschool locals like me.
It took a while but team USA has got their act together now to conquer the gold at the first BMX Olympics in Beijing, China. Not only did they build a replica of the Olympic BMX track in California, they hired coaches and put them up in housing close to the track. The following four movies will give you an idea of what's going on down there. Interviews with Mike Day, Randy Stumpfhauser and Jill K.
Trailer first. Full length video at the end of the year. Featuring Khalen Young, Luke Madill, Jamie Gray, Glenn Codega and Jared Graves and their competition. The Aussies are getting ready for the Olympics. Feel the pressure, taste the motivation, listen to what they have to say:
We do receive video links on a regular basis. Some of them are okay, some of them are bad, and this one is GREAT! Ondra Slez from the Czech Republic mailed it over and he's damn impressive on that little BMX bike. The last trick is a good one too. Might have been on accident but it is pulled. Check check.
