Queensland’s Jared Graves and Perth’s Nicole Callisto both improved Australia’s chances of taking the maximum number of BMX riders to the Beijing 2008 Olympics. By winning ahead of competing countries New Zealand, China, Japan and Hong Kong today in Penrith, the Australians gained valuable UCI points from this Oceania Round 9. Former mountain bike rider, 25 year old Graves, got an early lead on New Zealand’s Olympic hopeful Marc Willers. Close contact in the first turn between Willers and Penrith’s Luke Madill gave the kiwi second place. After getting an unlucky outside starting lane Madill was still content with third place on his home track.
Graves saved some power throughout the earlier heats but in the final it was not all easily sailing. “It was a bit of a shady lap in the final. I had a few moments but I had a good start and held it from there,” explained Graves.

The headline goes: One City, One Apartment, 30 riders, 6 months. It's a great idea and as far as we know it hasn't been done before. The apartment looks fresh too, none of your dirty couch, stained shag carpet, dirty sink, it's the opposite from the POW house, really. Maybe in 6 months it will look a little different. Anyway, riders will come and go to stay at the apartment that is set up by the Seventies crew. We have placed some FATBMX webcams so make sure to check in on a

Sean Logan just sent us over some info about a Bike Park Petition Signing that is taking place tomorrow (Sunday) 9 March. The City Council wants to build a Bike Park so the more of you that show up, the better the chances are that they will go for it. If there are only 6 bike riders there, they will make up their mind quick. If a few hundred show up, they will see why the BMX-ers need a park of their own. The event is being held at the San Dimas Skatepark on 9 March and starts off at 11 in the morning.
The Toronto BMX Jam is taking place this weekend over in Canada. It's a good thing it's an indoor event as the riding conditions outside in Toronto aren't too great. The ams had their qualifying event yesterday and 32 riders made it to Sunday's finals. Pro qualifying is today (Saturday). Last year's top 5 riders (1 – Garrett Reynolds 2 – Mike Spinner 3 – Drew Bezanson 4 – Craig Mast 5 – Dennis Enarson) all retuned to Toronto so it will be one worth checking out.
Amateur results first though. This top 32 it to the finals:
