The FAT Friday skipped a week last week but for good reason. We had made it to Woodward West for the first time in our life and instead of spending 5 hours on the computer, we spend 5 hours riding the amazing place. The whole USA trip kept me busy but it turned out really good. Here's the trip in short; After 11 hours on the plane it was straight to dinner with Sunex in Long Beach. After dinner I managed to find the
De Wilde's in Foothill Ranch and chatted the night away. Next day was a short visit to a unique Mercedes restauration place that
Mariella works at. Then on to my friends at Mirraco for most of the day to see what's new. After that a quick trip to Snafu in Temecula where I had a few with
McGoo, Bill and some friends at a car show. Checked out the car show in the morning and then drove over to
Lonnie Paxton 's in Riverside. The jam was in full swing and didn't end till late in the night. I believe I was chillin'in the hot tub at 3:30am with a drink in hand. Spent the night in the car but with the state I was in that didn't matter.

Woke up, brushed the teeth and headed for Los Angeles for the
LA Street jam . Over 200 riders showed up for that one and it was great. Riding the city from spot to spot with a few hundred people is just plain fun. The riding at each spot was ridiculous too. BMX is alive!
Drove back to HB to meet up with
Choq who was going to be the host for the rest of the trip. Thanks man! On Monday I

drove over to Vital BMX in Irvine. Seeing friends is great. We chatted away for a few hours and then I drove over to meet
Simon Tabron who is now living in the USA (and riding a wethepeople). It was good to catch up with him too. At 18:30hr I got a call from
Andy Zeiss who told me he had made it through customs. I picked him up, we bought some brewskis and headed for Choq's in HB. Yes, of course we stopped by Taco Bell. Man, I'd only been in Cali for a few days and it felt like weeks. But that's the way I planned it. Did I tell you that it was sunny every day?

Tuesday saw the TomTom take us to the Vans HQ in Cypress, then on to FIT Bike Co where we met up with
Rob-O. It was St. Patrick's day but I wasn't feeling it. I barely could master the FAT Tyre beer at the RIDEBMX offices before crashing out at Choq's. After some extra hours of sleep we decided not to go to San Diego after all.
Will Stroud, Morgan Wade (no new bike sponsor lined up yet) and
Dakota were shooting a
Levi's web clip in Santa Ana at some park so we drove over there and rolled around for a bit. Sheep Hills followed later that day. Felt good to be back.

After our power start on Thursday (thanks to some Lucky Charms) we made it to Mount Baldy in no-time only to be stuck in front of that hole. We did not have many advise on how to get to the other side other than bunny hop but one flat tire or broken chain would mean we'd be stuck there. We'll be back to ride that thing, I promise. We had an appointment with our friend
Stephen Murray at 2pm and managed to get there in time. It was great to hang out with him. We managed to blast through traffic (carpool!) and arrived at the Vans HQ to get a session in on the miniramp.

Next day: Woodward West. That place is pretty much paradise. Add 200 likewise people to the place and you'll have a great weekend. The
BMX Old School Reunion was fantastic. On Sunday we drove back to HB and felt the sore muscles coming up. Monday the bikes were packed up. After a short stop at the waffle sole HQ, Andy and I drove to Hollywood, cruised on Sunset, Beverly Hills, stopped at the Santa Monica Pier and took in all the good stuff before getting on board of that plane again back to the rain. What a great trip it was. Thanks to everyone for their hospitality.

Mike Vincent is fighting to get his vision back. Where some doctors have given up restoring his vision, there is hope for Mike as he is traveling to China for them to see what they can do to make his eyes work again. Hit the photo on your right and read the story. Then try to help out a brother. Anything is appreciated.

Ian Morris and
Dean Hearne both finished their Hastings Half Marathon. Much respect to that. Running for 21 kilometers ain't an easy task. Now who got the best time? Ian finished in 2 hours flat. Dean crossed the finish line 5 minutes later. Life in the office has never been the same....
