Getting trails in Helmond has been in the works for a long time. Meetings were had at the council and solutions needed to be found. A location was the first problem. After a spot at the fenced off motocross track did not work out, I gave up hope. But not Mike van de Kerkhof. He went on and finally checked out a spot at the Johannes-Vermeerlaan in Helmond-Noord.
Gilbert, Arizona- October, 2005: The American Bicycle Association, the World’s largest BMX sanctioning body, has created an all new Factory Team program for 2006. In an effort to improve the existing program the ABA met with Factory Team representatives during the Blackjack Nationals as well as communicated extensively with several members of the BMX industry. The results are a revamped program which will create a much more competitive and exciting format that will benefit everyone involved. The following are the key enhancements:
When men show up in a Speedo, we look in a different direction. When a good looking blond girl rides by on a BMX bike in a Speedo '76 swimsuit, that's a different story. Martin from Brussels found this one and shares it with all of the FATBMX visitors.
October, 2005-Vista, CA- Haro’s Joe Hawk has been appointed by the Board of Directors as Chief Operating Officer to take the reins of the 27-year-old company and lead it into the next chapter of its existence.
Hawk, who has most recently served as Haro’s Vice President of Sales for the past twelve years, plans to not only build upon the success from past, but to also work on “fine-tuningâ€? the organization. “The folks at Haro are extremely talented and nothing needs to be reinvented,â€? says Hawk. “Instead, some fine tuning will take place and with the exception of a few key enhancements, the same great people that brought success to the company in the past are the same ones that will continue to bring them in the future. My job is made much easier with the resources available to meâ€?.
At FATBMX we do some things backwards. Instead of promoting the hell out of our new t-shirts and sell them online before they are even printed, we get rid of them first and then put the new design on the website. Deamer designed the new T-shirt and like I said, there are only a few left. You can contact Paul at Paul's Boutique to see what sizes are not sold out. The colour of the shirt will be black. That's the only colour that Coach will wear. That bike in the picture is actually Pete Fastinetto's wethepeople. The pic was taken at "Pete's Ditch" and Deamer got to work with it.
This jam was at an art exhibition. We had all the ramps from the "Kongsi" where we couldn't stay any longer. We wanted to ride again, so we decided to build for 12 days to be open for just 10 days... With help from Wouter, Rutger, Ron and Ronaldo, Ed and I redesigned the park (in other words trying to sort out the way we could build it, as we used every inch of wood we had...). We did this with a very low budget and even had to use the screws from last time. Maybe next time we need some sponsors. Anyway, it resulted in a good rideable ghetto park.
We were kinda surprised how many people drove to "Dutch Texas". Riders from all over Holland found the place. Many had a longer trip than planned due to traffic jams etc. We really liked the atmosphere at the jam, nice relaxed good riding and live music. It was good to see you guys back again!!
It may take a while but we try to build the park at another location again! Also for permanent use, let's see how that works out.
John Paul Rogers is a Jack of many trades. Mental Jimmy's mailorder, Schwinn Team Manager, Faction BMX magazine and pretty much anything in between. With starting Caste Footwear, John Paul has found a new way to "kill some time". We caught up with JP on his new gig; Caste. What made you decide to start a shoe company?
I thought I could pull it off. I have a little bit of a background with different shoe companies.
We've done some wacky ads and this one isn't much better. That's what you get when you're working deep in the night to reach RIDE UK's deadline the next morning. Anyway, check it out and remember the ad when you see it in the next RIDE. We've used a few celebrities in this one so we hope they won't sue us for money. That would suck, having to pay extra to place an ad. We just want to keep reminding you on our website. Maybe you should bookmark it now and put it on your favorite list before you forget. That way you don't have to type it in all the time.
Clay Brown and crew have picked up Pusher magazine again. This time in a 'zine size but full colour. It looks damn dope that way. I love the 'zine size, it's easier to take with you without crumpling the book. Pusher has got 48 pages and it's an interesting read because they say it as it is. We like that style. The cover shows Van Homan at the Gravity Games but don't expect Pusher to be a "big contest" mag. Porn reviews and a photo of Troy McMurray with a bong is more like it. The content brings: Layton Massacre 50/50 comp, Shook tour in Tucson, The Ville (Gainsville report), Evolution Road Trip and a photo section called: "Visuals". Find the FATBMX advertisement on page 15. Find the Pusher banner in the Media section (left column) as soon as we hear back from them. We'd like to link it to their website: www.pusherbmxmagazine.com but when I tried that URL today, something else came up. Hmm, you can always write a letter to: Pusher Publications, 217 Pearl St. , Denver, CO 80203, USA. Or get a subscription for $15/yr (USA) or $25/yr (international). Hook a brother up.
