As a big fan of the best all-round art magazine Juxtapoz, I am subscribed (obviously) and was happy to receive the August 2008 issue. This one features non other then Bob Haro himself and his infamous BMX cartoon illustrations. It's not a bad deal either that he's interviewed by famous Mr. Cartoon, an insane well respected artist himself. If you are familiar with Bob Haro's art, then you know each drawing should put up a light grin or even a nice smile on your face. 
When the Condor was working on his computer I noticed his austronaut background and asked if that was his next project. Although he thinks going into space can't be that far off, we won't see that happen anytime soon. But Mat had something else for us. His rider Art Thomason works at NASA and had one of the austronauts carry a Hoffman Bikes seatpost clamp with him on their latest trip into space. He then gave the clamp back to Hoffman with a certificate that has all the details of the trip. 
Man, the Big Air set-up is HUGE! It is placed inside the Home Depot Center and barely fits. Practice was going on today and Anthony Napolitan, Dave Mirra, Steve McCann, Rooftop and Morgan Wade were at it. Respect, respect, respect! Just dropping in would be nuts let alone jumping the big gap. Napolitan has frontflipped the small set, Mirra backflipped the huge set on the right and blasted a big air 
The Big-Air BMX Triples kicked off from the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, California with an extraordinary display of bike-riding talent and skill from an international roster of the world’s top BMX athletes. Sao Paulo, Brazil’s Diogo Canina flew higher than his fellow competitors to land six technically clean and awe-inspiring runs over the 165 ft. course before a packed bandstand to capture the round one win and qualify for Thursday’s final round. “Winning in the preliminaries means a lot to me,” said Canina. “But I still have to ride hard on Thursday. These guys are good. They could pull it all together and hit all their tricks in the Finals. On Thursday, things could be a lot different.” Tonight’s top three finishers included Sean Logan of San Clemente, Calif. and Ricky Moseley of Mason, Tenn., placing in second and third respectively.

What!? Have the X-Games started already? No, not really. The ASA is putting on an event this week at the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa and planned it in between the SoulBowl and the X-Games event. With riders in town for these events they were aiming for a good rider and media turn-out. Yesterday I got a ride from Big Island to the Home Depot Center, one of the venues of the 2008 X-Games. You see, the events are split over 2 locations, the Staples Center and the Home Depot Center and they are not just a walk apart, you need to get in a vehicle to get there and it will still take you 30 minutes to travel between the two if there is no traffic. The hotel at LAX is 20 minutes so it proves once again that you do need a car in America to get around. That's why those damn highways are so full too and you do 
Only three weeks ago 15.000 visitors at Colognes Jugendpark got fired up by a multiplicity of amazing trick combos performed of the BMX Pros. For all of you who can't get enough of the Masters and who would like to follow the whole spectacular with some cold beer and Chips from your couch, here comes relief.
