No, there's not a typo in the headline. These are the 2012 European BMX Championship Standings. With the Olympics happening in the middle of summer next year, championships need to happen before the big Games take place. That includes the European Championships. Two events have taken place already. One in Valkenswaard, Netherlands in September, and one in Klatovy, Czech Republic in October. Each weekend has a full race on Saturday, and a full race on Sunday. The race in Klatovy got cancelled because of the weather so round three and four were both moved to the Sunday. It was touch for the racers to do two complete races in one day. Four BMX racers from the United States have made their way down to Mexico for the 2011 Pan American Games. The 16th edition of the quadrennial, multi-sport event kicks off this week in Guadalajara with the opening ceremonies set for Thursday. The BMX competitions in Guadalajara will offer category 5 level UCI points. These points count toward a country’s Nations Ranking, which will determine the number of start spots a nation earns for the 2012 Olympic Games.

BMX, the penultimate cycling event for the USA, will take center stage on Oct. 21 at the CODE San Nicolas. As the top-ranked woman in USA Cycling’s BMX Power Rankings, Arielle Martin (Spanaway, Wash./Intense BMX) will lead a foursome that also includes Amanda Carr (Punta Gorda, Fla./Paul Williams), Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./Chase BMX), and Nic Long (Lakeside, Calif./ Haro-Rockstar).

VSI Products is proud of the way its sponsored riders performed at the UCI Supercross World Cup Finals, as well as the ABA U.S. Nationals in Southern California last weekend. Among the results were Arielle Martin's win in the Supercross race and third in the time trial, David Herman's third in Supercross and back-to-back wins by the Intense Factory Team. Arielle dominated the completion at her home track, taking wins every lap, finally blowing away a field of the fastest women in the world in the main.

In the main, Arielle chose lane 8 and got a decent snap out of the gate. Although she was a little off the pace at the bottom of the hill, her skills down the first straight showed through when she handily took the lead over the second jump. Out of the first corner she had a several-bikes length lead that she never relinquished.

Following Arielle in second was Brooke Crain, who also won Friday's time trial. Brooke rides Sinz Elite Carbon CFC forks 

After the UCI BMX SX in Chula Vista, I was home for three days before the Dutch Team and I hit the road again for European round 3&4 in Klatovy, Czech Republic where I was back on the podium with a 2nd and 1st place… The Dutch Team and I flew back from San Diego to Amsterdam last week. Came back home on Monday and drove to Klatovy, Czech Republic on Thursday morning. We arrived late in the afternoon and did a recovery ride when we unpacked our bikes,

The 2011 UCI BMX Supercross season has been wrapped up for another year. The final round was held over the weekend in Chula Vista California. This year's World Cup season has been a roller coaster ride, Round 1 was held in South Africa where I was fighting for 3rd place and crashed ending up 5th. In Round 2 I had my best result of the season placing 3rd in Holland. The 3rd Round was in London as part of the 2012 Olympic Games Test Event..still recovering from injury and not feeling confident on the bike saw me out in the semi final.
