Weight: 10.7 kg When did you decide to build up a new bike? Pim: I decided a few months ago. I didn’t really ride anymore and I want to ride more in 2014 than this year. I didn’t even ride once a month, I’m pretty much at 040 BMX Park 7 days a week and I live in one of the big white buildings behind the park. I don’t really miss riding my bike because my job kind of replaced it and BMX is still involved in pretty much everything I do. Riding more would be fun though but still have to finish the new part of 040 BMX Park first.
Why did you pick this one in particular? Pim: My other bike is black/chrome and I wanted the color we use for the logo of 040 BMX Park in my bike or at least something similar. Black goes well with every color and black keeps the bike clean.
You made the bike very stealth except for the hubs, even the VWP brake pads are black. Did you look on eBay for all those black parts? Pim: No, everything is customized by myself. A black marker did the job in 10 minutes haha. VWP brake pads are the best brake pads ever and especially now they’re black!
Now that you have a new bike, are you motivated to ride more? Pim: Yes, that’s one of the reasons I wanted a new bike and I’m riding pegs again like I did when I started riding.
How much room do you have between the front tire and the bottom of your steer tube? Pim: Probably 1mm or less. It’s a perfect fit.
Did you have to do any modifications to make the bike work the way you want it? Pim: Not really, just made everything even more black. Paul put a lot of work in the front hub as it was a 10mm axle and made it a female hub. He had to take some parts of different hubs which made it pretty expensive. I was fortunate enough to pay the normal price for it haha.
Thanks to: Paul for the help and effort he’s put into building my bike and Dimitris for drilling out the front hub spacers to make it fit!
