Vault by Vans Presents: Vans Curated by Our Legacy. Vans and Our Legacy partner to create a footwear and apparel capsule inspired by Californian hardcore punk culture. This spring, Vault by Vans collaborates with Stockholm-based menswear powerhouse, Our Legacy to create a 10-piece footwear and 12-piece apparel capsule collection inspired by Californian hardcore punk culture. The offerings include Vans’ classic footwear silhouettes in bold orange, black and white colorways and timeless Vans apparel basics including a pullover sweatshirt and graphic tees that convey a striking blend of street culture and high quality design.

Our Legacy co-founder, Jockum Hallin, grew up in Sweden in the early 90’s in a world of do-it-yourself culture that exposed him to skateboarding, touring with hardcore bands, releasing records and sleeping on floors. Hallin’s spirited attitude during this time developed into creative endeavors across music and fashion, all of which were driven by Hallin’s affinity toward the subversive culture that was burgeoning in the States.

The Vault by Vans x Our Legacy collection is directly inspired by Hallin’s interpretation of Californian skate, surf and hardcore punk culture in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. The collection executes minimal and monochromatic design elements, reduced in detailing and colors, focusing on shapes, silhouettes, materials and fabric qualities. Symbolic subcultural references are seen throughout the collection including “positive mental attitude” (PMA), “use your head,” “all ages” and “Orange County.”

The Vault by Vans x Our Legacy collection features deluxe versions of Vans’ iconic footwear silhouettes including the Half Cab Pro ’92 LX, Sk8-Mid Pro ’91 LX, Old Skool Pro ’92 LX and Authentic Pro LX in orange, black and white iterations. The Half Cab Pro ’92 LX, Sk8-Mid Pro LX and Old Skool Pro ’92 LX feature hairy suede alongside high quality army nylon fabrication to create a subtle contrast. With a close attention to detail, the sidestripe styles feature the iconic symbol in full grain Swedish natural leather. To round out the footwear offerings, Vault by Vans x Our Legacy introduces the Authentic Pro LX, covered in orange, black and white nylon fabrication with raised foxing. Each style in the footwear capsule features a custom “Curated by Our Legacy” overdyed label and custom footbed.

The Vans apparel team kept quality top-of-mind when developing the apparel offerings within this collection, and lead all apparel production in the USA. The collection features three Pullover Hoodies, Coaches Jackets, Short and Long Sleeve Tees matching back to the black, orange and white colorways of the footwear.

“We imagined someone’s wardrobe. The wardrobe of someone that might surf in the morning, then head straight to work. Someone that might skate in the afternoon, go on a date on a Saturday night and then wake up to go to a hardcore matinee show,” Hallin shared.
