The greatest show in BMX dirt riding is officially back! Monster Energy congratulates team rider Andy Buckworth on winning the Best Trick event at the 2022 Monster Energy BMX Triple Challenge in Anaheim, California, on Saturday. In the series opener at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, the 31-year-old from Lake Haven, Australia, also took second place in the BMX Dirt competition. Buckworth was joined on the podium by a new addition to the Monster Energy roster: At age 27, Daniel Sandoval from Corona, California is known as the U.S. National Champion and he unleashed a barrage of 360 combos, with the culminating run consisting of a 360 barspin-to-downside whip-to-late barspin followed a 360 double whip-to-whip back for third place.
Frenchman Matthias Dandois has made a career out of breaking new ground on his beloved BMX bikes with the 32-year-old heading to the iconic Streif mountain to help celebrate the 2022 running of the famous Hahnenkamm downhill races. Here is all you need to know: When a Frenchman stands at the starting gate of the legendary Streif mountain, anything can happen with Adrien Duvillard, Guy Périllat, Jean-Claude Killy and Luc Alphand all winning the Hahnenkamm downhill. This year, the 82nd edition of the Hahnenkamm will again feature two downhill races but this time the competitors will launch their thrilling run from a newly renovated hut that has been extended by one floor.
Ahead of the races, Dandois proved that he is equally adept at delivering a world-class performance in
Every iconic athlete on two-wheels has an indelible moment. Matt Hoffman’s no-handed 900, Kevin Robinson’s first-ever double flair or Dave Mirra’s triple X-Games gold - live long in the memory of BMX fans minds. British BMX rider Kieran Reilly may have just made his first lasting imprint on the sport in his early twenties with a world first trick. Kieran Reilly became the first person in the BMX world to land a triple flair at Asylum Park - a feat that pushes the boundaries of what was thought possible in the sport and a trick that shows the incredible trajectory that the star British BMX rider is on. The trick can be watched on Red Bull UK’s Instagram, TikTok, with a full behind the scenes edit launching on Red Bull’s Bike YouTube channel.
In the darkness of my garage, the outline of an old familiar friend brings a collection of memories to the forefront of my mind. “Four years,” I mutter, as the sight of its two flat tires instills an unexpected sadness over me. My finger draws a line through the dust on the cross bar until finding the pair of Shadow Conspiracy grips. “How has it been four years?” Freedom, the road, friendship, empty wallets, and moments of agony, all now collecting cobwebs under the cover of a bulbless light. Whether it was out of curiosity or the guilt of bad ownership, I lifted my bike from the pile of lawnmower bits, fishing rods, and gardening utensils and gave it some TLC. It's here! The 2022 USABMX Freestyle Amateur National Championship schedule is confirmed. For 2022, we've added two events, both being new locations in Longview Texas and Newberg Oregon. We're pretty happy about this schedule and are looking forward to getting it all started on January 28th in Tucson.
Please note, we will be adding 5 digital competitions to the schedule in the next few days. Like in 2021, not all scores will count towards the overall National Age Group Ranking. More on this soon. We were excited about confirming the National schedule and wanted to get this to everyone asap so travel arrangements could be made.
