Hundreds of people descended on Dorchester on Saturday to see the Mayor officially open the new £200,000 state-of-the-art skatepark. Inspired by Industry leaders, designed by skaters and handcrafted out of concrete by Maverick, the most innovative skatepark specialists outside of the US, this is one of the most exciting parks in the UK. Before cutting the ribbon, the Mayor praised the skatepark committee and council for their 12 years of hard work to get to this day.

And it was a day packed full of thrill and spills, as people of all ages and abilities tackled the virgin ramps to show off their skills on wheels. The crowds were treated to demos from the UK's top professional skaters and bmxers, who entertained onlookers with their gravity-defying stunts.
Russell Holbert, park designer for Maverick said,
"We are delighted to have been involved with this project and Dorchester now has one of the top skate facilities in the UK. Seeing it so well received by the usergroup, council and locals today has been the icing on the cake." There will be no time to rest and reflect as May Bank Holiday weekend will see Maverick opening another new skatepark in Glastonbury. Come along on Monday May 4th to join in the celebrations.
