We can’t complain about the number of concrete parks being built, but sometimes they’re just too far away. Sure, you hit the streets looking for spots, but have you tried the local BMX track? Times of sticking out your foot when entering the first turn are over. First of all, the MX part has disappeared out of BMX. Dirt first turns with loose dirt where you had to stick out your foot are hard to find. BMX Tracks have concrete or brick turns now and with everyone clipped in, it will be rare to see a rider dive in the first turn with his foot sticking out.

Sounds more like BMX road racing to me. Oh well. This comes with an advantage. These turns are solid and can be ridden as banks! Usually they’ve got a little transition going on too so why look further? Sometimes even the take-offs are made of solid material so even when the weather turns bad, the shape stays the same.

Look up your local BMX track. It’s worth a try. Avoid training hours as the racers won’t understand why you’re there while they’re working on their gate starts. Or maybe join them. BMX is about having fun, remember?
