10,000 tonnes of dirt and 40 of the best BMX riders on the planet descending to a small town in Devon can mean only one thing... the Red Bull Empire of Dirt has landed in the UK once again! This year's comp promises to be a super powered affair! Only the most daring and creative riders will survive. The course is immense. The 'drop in' is fierce, the spine is completely 'sick' and the hip at the end doesn't get any bigger! Oh and did I mention anything about those wall rides?! Scary. In 2003 the Mellowpark Berlin has already been the venue of the German Open. With more than 5000 guests and visitors it was the most successful and frequented event for the independent cultural youth project at the brink of the German capital. Riders and visitors from all over Europe and beyond flocked to Berlin these days, to see, smell and feel the „lifestyle BMX“, in a location, which was created by creative young energetic people only for this sole purpose.

Now it is the year 2008 and the future of the Mellowpark is gloomy. Regardless of the official notice of cancellation of the permit to stay on the current property and the ongoing negotiations regarding the preservation and relocation of the project, the crew of the Mellowpark wants to pay its respect to the international BMX milieu. Like no one else the community of BMX riders, firms and networks has supported the park during the past seven years. Reason enough for the Mellowpark crew to express their gratitude by catering the German BMX Freestyle Championship 2008 from August 1st – 3rd.

Roger Rinderknecht received his final go to attempt the BMX race competition of the Olympic Games today. The Swiss silver medalist of the 2008 mountain bike 4X World Championships can’t wait to make his way to China. In its final selection round, the Swiss Olympic committee chose Roger Rinderknecht to take part in the BMX competition. Roger is just relieved and happy right now: “I’ve been thinking of this particular race every day for the last three years. Now the reward for thousands of training-hours has come.

Liam has been England’s big hope for the 2012 Olympics which will be in London, England. However, Liam has recently stepped up his game and at the secret British Cycling trials event in Aigle Switzerland; Liam won all 4 time trial events putting him on top of England’s Olympic list for 2008. Liam’s parents Pete and Sharon Phillips have been involved in BMX for many years and when they started some 12 years ago, they never imagined BMX could take

On the heels of last months Panasonic Open win, POC team rider Daniel Dhers, of Buenos Aires, clinched his second BMX Park win of the 2008 Mountain Dew Tour. The Right Guard Open in Cleveland, OH is the second stop on the 4th Annual Action Sports Dew Tour (AST). Dhers posted the highest score of the day last Sunday. To ensure his overall victory by hitting a total of four 720s in his first run, a no handed corked 720, and his patented no-footed can-can to late tail whips. Other competitors like, Mike Spinner and Rob Darden gave Dhers a run for his money with a quadruple tail whip and a fast bar spin transfer into the spine from the Nike 6.0 sub, but in the end had to settle for second and third place.

“As the season continues, I am starting to feel more comfortable and confident with my tricks,” says Dhers. “I am really stoked with the way things are going right now, especially since the X Games and Wendy’s International Open (third stop of the Dew Tour) are right around the corner.” 

DC will officially take over the Standard, Downtown Los Angeles, July 31st – August 3 for The Gold Standard 2008. Conceived by DC, The Gold Standard 2008 is a hosted hotel takeover during the 2008 X Games, developed as a tribute to DC’s X Games athletes over the past 14 years. Here, DC and Monster Energy along with presenting sponsors FUEL TV and Complex Magazine will occupy all 12 floors of the swanky hotel in the heart of LA. Over the course of the 3-day weekend, guests will be treated to the ultimate VIP experience at the hotel, while the biggest action sports event in the world happens just down the street at the STAPLES Center and Home Depot Center. During the day, guests will have exclusive access to lounges that will be filled with entertainment, games, gifting, amenities, and a place to recharge and relax. Each evening The Gold Standard 2008 will host events, where guests can enjoy cocktails, music and hang with DC and Monster Energy professional athletes. 

With the ABA BMX season in full swing and each event being such a HUGE success, we though it was time to take a look at who's in the ABA BMX points lead for the ABA BMX National #1Title chases. The excitement level has been very high, the talent has been very deep, and the pressure has been unbelievable for everyone. With that being said, here's a look at who's leading the ABA BMX National #1 Title chases in all eight catagories for "THE CUPS" and a band new fuel injected Suzuki RMZ-450!

Red Bull Empire of Dirt is the the world's first BMX dirt slopestyle contest. The course has got "everything you could ever dream of if you're into BMX". If last year's course is anything to go by the event is going to be something serious to behold.

After having been totally washed out last year, riders, organizers and spectators alike have been waiting patiently to get back to the Devon Dirt to take care of some unfinished business.

Like BMX, graffiti is worldwide. We found these pieces on a trip in the South of France in a village that wasn't as "Urban" as you would think by seeing all this paint on the walls. Some of them are pretty decent but others aren't the best we've ever seen. We still cropped the photos, re-sized them one by one, saved them for web use, uploaded them one by one in the system for you to see. Enjoy. I hope.
