The iconic grounds of Central Park became the launching pad for BMX legend Kevin Robinson as he soared into the world record books by airing 54 feet off the ground – equivalent to nearly a six story building - breaking the record for highest air on a BMX bike in the second-ever Red Bull Experiment. Kevin hurled himself down a 60ft high roll-in at speeds over 45 mph, up a 27ft Super Quarter Pipe and aired 27ft above the ramp, against the back drop of the world-renowned New York City skyline.

After nearly an hour and six attempts trying for the record, Kevin broke it by one inch, at 26.7 ft. Not feeling satisfied, he did another attempt to increase the record by another five inches. “There is no better feeling than setting a goal and accomplishing it, no matter what adversity you have to face. So here in Houston Texas, we just got a new cement park. It's perfect for bikes, skateboards, and skates as well. The thing is bikes are not allowed. Hoffman Bikes' Kevin Robinson is the new World Height Record holder on a BMX bike. He managed to beat team boss Mat Hoffman's previous record by half a feet and moved it up to 27 feet out of the top of the 30 feet high quarterpipe ramp. The event took place in New York City last night. 

GT Bicycles is proud to announce its new BMX team program called “The Project.” This progressive team is made up of ten riders from around the world who were selected through an online contest held on the Vital BMX website.

Members of the Vital BMX website community were invited to upload a video featuring their riding and a short interview as their contest entry. GT received over 200 videos and selected the top 10 riders to be part of the new GT Project team. The riders span across the planet from the UK, Australia and all over the US. GT has developed a new dirt / street frame of the same name (The Project), available exclusively to the selected Project riders, to support this program.

“This is a great opportunity for talented riders that haven’t been discovered yet to ride a great bike, and to be part of our family,” said Chuck Fallon, GT BMX Team Manager. “This is how BMX got started back in the day, and this is what BMX is really all about.”

You have been in business with KGB for some years now. Has the brand established and are things running smoothly now?
KGB: Few years back me and Viki Gomez started the company without any experience from other work or studies. Only the attitude "go for it" in our pockets and little bit of money. Then we faced a lot of difficulties with chinese people taking care of things for us on the other side of the world. We made a lot of mistakes, lot of hard times and closed the production for 1.5 years due to the reason of changing the agency in Taiwan. We basically started the company over again, smarter, more experience and all those things. So, this is the first year in the existence of KGB that we have things under the control the way we wanted to have since the beginning. 

Yesterday there was a conference call with some people involved with the Dew Tour. One of them was Jamie Bestiwck who has won the vert title three years in a row and is going for his fourth one this year. Jamie is also joining the TV commentary team again so if you hear an English voice on TV and you know it's not Grotbags, it is Jamie Bestwick. Anyway, we got sent the full transcript from the media call so we'll hand it to Jamie Bestwick from now on:

I'm just stoked to come back for the fourth season of the AST Dew Tour. As a BMX Rider who has won the Dew Cup for the past three years straight, it's a good feeling coming into this year being defending champion again. Especially with the rise of new Vert riders last year who got their first rookie year behind them. Now they know what the deal is and they'll be coming after the Cup, so to speak, this year.

So I think the fourth year will definitely be a tough one for myself.
