bars because it was a practice for the frame: find the materials, find the systems to bend, to weld, to create jigs ... you know ... And I create sprockets too, bar ends (with my own system I invented), stem and pegs. I realy started to build my own frame in 2006
Can people contact you if their frames are broken and they want it welded up again?
Mr. Zug: yes, for sure, no problem ...but you must think about this: if your frame has been broken, it can be fatigued, so if I repare it, perhaps it can be broken at the same place or at another place, because it was fatigued.
Do you weld brake lugs on frames if people want some on their own bike, or cable guides, grind plates or whatever?
Mr. Zug: It's the same response, no problem.
Have you always liked working in the workshop?
Mr. Zug: Yes, it's my place ... I like to CREATE MYSELF! it's my life! even if it's not necessarily in the workshop, it can be on my websites, or at a customer's home to make a bathroom, a banister....
Have you ever welded up other BMX related things, like ramps, bike racks, that sort of stuff?
Mr. Zug: yes, I have my own ramp, a mini ramp with spine (5.5inch height, I add 3 pics in the http://www.mrzugbmx.com/_stock_images.php, on the news part), but, actualy, its to used so, I waiting for my future workshop, it will be my ONW worshop (i'm locator actualy); so I'll install my ramp and I can accept all the riders to make good session I hope it will be in a few month
You recently made your website available in English as well. Do you get requests from outside of France?
Mr. Zug: Hey, I started this since 2 days ... !!
You now offer custom frames. How does that work exactly?
Mr. Zug: it's not really "You now offer custom frames..." it's "I always offered..." since the begining (2007), but it was just in France
How does that work exactly ?
Mr Zug: Simple: you go to the custom frame page and you can choose all the options that you want ... then, you choose your country and you select type of shipping and the system calculate your shipping and if you have tax or not ... all is automatic. And if you have questions or if you want some specific things, you can contact me and we will see together ... I prepare every time new things (example: gusset for TT & DT, but its already possible, just ask me...)
What are the measurements of your own frame?
Mr. Zug: it's realy basic .... 20.5 (or 21 sorry...I forgot ;) ) and rear tube 13.5 ...
You have some team riders, who are on the team riding Mr. Zug custom frames?
Mr. Zug: 3 guys are ride for MrZug and they all have their "own custom frame" , because, actually, mrzugbmx frames are only custom frame... but I'm a poor sponsor ...i'ts not easy for them ...and for me!
What welding equipment do you use?
Mr. Zug: TIG welding, for sure, it's the only way ... but I can weld aluminium and stainless steel too ...
Do you have pipe benders, and cutters and all that stuff you need to get the tubes ready for the frame?
Mr. Zug: I have all that I need to make a frame from the begining to the end (I make myself head tube, bottom bracket, dropout, etc...) and paint, and stickers ...
How do you cut the drop-outs?
Mr. Zug: manually, because all the frames are custom ....
Is setting up a jig with the right measurements for a custom frame a lot of work?
Mr. Zug: oh, yes, it was one of the BIG part of the work when I started ... sure ! and it has change with time... because bmx evolves.
How many frames do you make per year?
Mr. Zug: oh, it's just a few frame per year but I hope it evolves, and then, I will be "the master of the world!!" ... oops, sorry!
Where can people contact you?
Mr. Zug: on my contact page, for sure ! it's the simplest way!
