For many Thursday was the first time that they saw the Empire Of Dirt course in real life. A few pics and promo clips have done the rounds on the internet but actually witnessing the jumps and obstacles was certainly something else. The location is simply amazing, up in the garden of Alexandra Palace on top of a hill overlooking the city of London. The sight alone is awesome but with all the jumps there, the place is pretty insane.
Leo and
Kye Forte have gone out of their way to present something challenging, from smaller jumps to big sets, from an almost 360 degree berm to a humonguous curved wallride. Let’s not even talk about the “spine” towards the bottom of the course.
Many, many pro riders have made it to London and they took it one section at a time. Making it down the hill from start to finish takes about a minute, and there’s little room for error. But there was no rush, the weather was perfect and the vibe was chill. It’s always good to see that in BMX freestyle riders help each other out making it through a section or learning a new trick.
