Despite intense discussions concerning the realization of the Vert-Competition at major contests, like the Summer X-Games 2008, the halfpipe challenge is going to happen at Suzuki BMXMasters 2008 from 4th- 6th July in Cologne as usual.

After talking to the riders, we have been encouraged to hold on to this unique contest model and continue to offer all five BMX-Freestyle disciplines. Vert is not only an inherent part of the contest philosophy of the Suzuki BMXMasters, but also a guaranty for spectacular BMX action at the Jugendpark with top-class participants every year.

This year again many international pros, which arrive from all over the world, have signed up in order to match with the european elite. We are particularly happy to welcome riders like Evandro da Silva from Sao Bernardo do Compo (Brasil) and Oliver Cantillo from Caracas (Venezuela). 

A few weeks ago we received a couple of photos from Mike Daly but for some reason (being on the road staying busy) we have not posted them. Well, what do you think? Leave it up to RedBull to come up with amazing new things, and not just bar talk either. It is happening, for realz.

Entry from October 2, 1996: I went to Jamie Staff’s house in the morning. We planned to go to the Haro offices & I was going to talk with them about me getting a signature bike. But the main guy at Haro wasn’t there. So we went to the Slater trails instead. We came back & played some video game golf & then I went to the gym. I came home & Matt Hoffman called. He wants me to ride for Hoffman Bikes next year! They’re going to make race bikes & get into racing. I need to fax him some #’s (amount of races I want to go to & what I want to get paid). I told him that it would have to be a lot more money than Haro is paying me. We’ll see what happens. This could get interesting. At night, I went to John Paul Rogers’ house & us & Jamie & John Povah, and Alan Foster went to the Galaxy Theater for the Crusty Demons of Dirt video premier. It was good & there were tons of dope girls, but they were too high postin’ for me. We left at midnight.

The ‘In the Bin’ short film festival is now in its eighth year and has grown immensely to become a unique event that touches on regions both far and wide.

The festival began as a simple indoor event, in the local high school gymnasium with a modest crowd of 300, in Jed Cahill’s home town Currumbin, Gold Coast. To the credit of Jed and his team the festival is now showcased on two large screens at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary parklands, over five days with crowds exceeding 3,000.
