Looking back over the years, here is a journal entry that stands out and also my comments looking back now.  Hoffman Contest- Hoffman Estates, IL  -The Stolen Cop Car November 11th, 1994

Actual Journal Entry: We went to the park & watched flatland & mini ramp all day. At night, we all drank at the hotel & then went to a bar called “Durty Nelly’s.” It was packed. Later we started moshin’ and steam rolling on the dance floor & acting silly. Some people got kicked out. Then when we were leaving, a bouncer wouldn’t let a guy go. So me and some others were pulling on the guy & punching the bouncer. Then the cops ran up and a Canadian BMX guy jumped in the cop’s car and started rev’in it up. Then he put it in gear and took of with a cop hangin on to the back of it. The cop tried to hang on, but flew off! We all saw it and ran to our cars & jumped in. Reuben Castillo & I jumped in the trunk & Mirra drove a bunch of us back. We got back to our hotel & talked about the craziness that we witnessed. That Canadain guy got arrested. 

The BMX family is growing. BMX babies are born all over to secure the future of BMX. Sometimes however we have to say goodbye to one of our BMX family members in the name of Pepi Winder. Pepi was big time in the mid-eighties in the UK making appearances on national TV (BMX Beat) and making covers of magazines. Paul and I did shows with him at Slagharen once when we were on the same team (Vincent Frames). Pepi didn't leave the BMX family and was still riding a lot till the day we had to say goodbye.

The first day of X Games Mexico Presented by Rockstar Energy Drink kicked off last night at the Palacio de los Deportes. With a strong international representation of competitors from around the Globe participating in the BMX Freestyle Vert Elimination Rounds, today's festivities marked the first time an international X Games event has been held in Mexico City. In response to the opening day, Gerardo Casanova, general manager, ESPN Mexico said, "We are very excited to have X Games Mexico Presented by Rockstar Energy Drink in our city. 

On the weekend of 28-30 September next an Amateur BMX contest will be held at Woodward camp.
Disciplines: Park, Mini Ramp, Dirt, Mini Vert (9 ft.).
Classes: 14 & Under Men (Mini Ramp & Park) 16 & Under Men (Mini Ramp, Park, Dirt, Mini Vert) 17 & Over Men (Mini Ramp, Park, Dirt, Mini Vert) Women (Mini Ramp, Park, Dirt, Mini Vert)
***There MUST be at least three entries to make a class. If less than 3 entries, riders will be moved to the next closest class!
Entry Fees: $50 for the first event, $25 for each additional event.

ALL participants MUST have proof of medical insurance. Those participants under the age of 18 MUST have a signed and NOTARIZED waiver for the event.

Riding at camp will be restricted to registered competitors on competition venues ONLY!

This team of riders will now rely on the refreshing taste of BAWLS Guarana to keep them bouncing down the track! 

The ABA (American Bicycle Association) announced today that voting has commenced for the 2007 ABA BMX “Hall of Fame”. Each year since 1985, a select group of BMX (Bicycle Motocross) riders and/or industry veterans have been nominated. Once again this year the ABA BMX “Hall of Fame” committee has chosen the nominees from “Early BMX Pioneers”, “BMX Racers” and “Industry Members”. The ABA BMX “Hall of Fame” is the who’s who of BMX and it consists of riders and industry members who have made notable contributions to the sport. Although the voting is open to the public, nominations are done by committee. To be honored by the committee and be added to the ballot is important, but the public chooses the final winners.

This year marks a change in voting as the ballots will be available online at ababmx.com. The voting will be available to the public from September 5th through October 1st, 2007. Voting is restricted to one vote per person. 

Martti Kuoppa is in thailand for three months coaching the Thai National flatland team. It's five hours of coaching per day and Martti is getting his riders ready for the Macau Indoor Games at the end of October. The KGB Flat co-owner is also organizing a competition in Thailand on 6 October. "Flatstyles Bangkok edit" is the name. Martti Kuoppa: "Flatstyles is going worldwide now. 4 years I organized the jam in Helsinki and we will continue to do so. This is the 1st intl´ Flatstyles KGB is organizing and some time later there will be "Flatstyles Tokyo homies", 1 in Mexico, 1 in Chile, Singapore, Malaysia and so on. Concept is simple and we keep it real and keep it freestyle.." 

It's been a while since we have done an update but there has been so much going on in the background. Although we are in daily contact with Melissa regarding Stephen's condition, its better to do an update when one of the family is visiting Stephen as all of Melissa's time is taken up with looking after Stephen's physical care and flying back and forth to California to see Mason and Seth. I have been busy with Stephen's benefit jam here in the UK and so this update is from our Mam, Cynthia.

Hi, After being away from Stephen for 5 weeks, I had expectation of this visit being more relaxing than when I was here in Denver the last time. How wrong can you be! I arrived late on Friday evening and Stephen was in good spirits although he had just started having some issues with secretions from his lungs. 

The 2007 Nokia Fise was a good one. The organization has confirmed the 2008 date already and reserved a spot at the "Berges du Lez". The location made it so much better, now let's work on the partying, the only thing that sucked. No more over priced Australian gay bar for us. Look at the plans for the 2008 street course. It's looking good. The Braun Spine ramp will be there (can't be missed) and also the Red Bull vert ramp will be set up on the water. Riders, reserve this date for 2008:
