The past three years have flown by, and it feels like just yesterday that Charlotte Worthington (GBR) and Logan Martin (AUS) clinched the inaugural gold medals in BMX Freestyle Park at the Tokyo Olympics. Now, as Paris 2024 approaches, an additional three riders per gender will compete, bringing the total to 24 riders showcasing their skills at Place de la Concorde on July 30-31, 2024. This venue will also host Skateboarding (street and park), 3x3 Basketball, and Breaking, creating a vibrant urban atmosphere. The newer Olympic sports are set to draw young audiences, and the high demand for tickets reflects this growing interest.
The qualification process for BMX Freestyle has evolved since its debut, becoming more intricate. Ultimately, after six quota places were awarded to the top six finishers of the Olympic Qualifier Series
On February 21st, the town of Sakai (Ibaraki prefecture) inaugurated a custom-built park designed by Hurricane Parks, a brand of Hurricane Group (organizers of FISE) and used during the Olympic Games in Japan. This area will be available to amateur riders from April 1st and to professional athletes for training sessions ahead of international competitions.
It was at the 2024 UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup, held in Enoshima from 22 to 25 February, that the world's best riders took the opportunity to celebrate the inauguration of this new Park in Sakai. Among them was reigning Olympic champion Logan Martin, who had the occasion to rediscover his 2020 sensations on the Park that made him the first ever BMX Freestyle Olympic gold medalist.

The BMX Freestyle national championships took place in Roncade, in the awesome setting of H-Farm, an international school and university campus. For some years now, the park built by Hurricanes has been the national Olympic center for this discipline. Back competing for the tricolor jersey, worn 4 times by the everlasting Alessandro Barbero in the last 5 years and only in 2021 by Francesco Mongillo.
The boys have grown a lot, thanks to the guidance of CT Ventura and the Olympic center built for them, when I arrive on site I find my long-time friends, with only Guilherme Henrique Paloschi a new face for me.
