Jeffrey Bignell used to be one fast BMX racer. He won many titles and then moved his interest into freestyle skiing where he has won many Dutch titles too. Jeffrey is working on a project that shoud be finished at the end of next month. It's a roll-in with a jump at the end, placed in front of a lake. That's how freestyle skiiers practice and Bignell thought it would be cool to let BMX riders use the ramp also. The ramp will have three sections. One for snowboarders, one for skiers and one for BMX. The set-up will be placed at "De Ijzeren Man" in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

The answer is the very first Red Bull Vertical Battle, a free skate and BMX event taking over Old Market Square, Nottingham on Saturday 30th July from 6pm! In partnership with Kerrang, the Red Bull Vertical Battle is a free, unticketed event, hosted by the radio stations very own Ed Leigh, along with commentary from the distinctive voice of ‘Grotbags’ - all provided to the backdrop of live music from Kerrang themselves.

THE BMX FREESTYLE WORLDS CHAMPIONSHIP IN PRAGUE Prague central tennis court on Stvanice Island will host flying BMX riders instead of typical tennis balls From June 1st till June 5th Prague will become the number one on the World extreme sport map. The Prague Stvanice Island hosts the World freestyle BMX Championship, the official title is Nokia BMX Freestyle Worlds 2005. Over 500 riders from all over the World will participate in. Freestyle BMX is a leisure BMX variation originated from bicross races and nowadays consists of 5 different disciplines: dirt, street, flatland, miniramp and vert. The race highlight is the contest in the 3.8 meter high vert, located directly on Stvanice central tennis court.

It's no secret that we do like Motocross over here at FATBMX. It's a nice workout and a blast to do. Some of our buddies entered the MON championship race in Venlo on 15 May. We decided to show some support and took some pics in the meantime. Christian Mandigers was the only guy to make it to the podium. He finished 2nd in the 250cc Inters class with a 2nd place in moto 1 and 3rd place in moto two on the sandy track. The ABA pros had two days to score points for the overall championship last weekend in Utah. Saturday had Specialized's Brandon Meadows on the top spot of the podium and on Sunday it was defending ABA number one pro Bubba Harris (Redline) who climbed on top. This year's show will feature an entire weekend of events including: a street contest, a flatland jam, a miniramp or bowl contest, and a concert featuring bands popular in BMX culture today. By combining several different aspects of BMX Steve Crandall and his crew are able to offer a more inclusive experience than you will find anywhere else. The BMX Industry Trade Show will be a three day event. Thursday will be open to dealers and exhibitors only - offering you the opportunity to meet face to face with the companies you already deal with, as well as new and up-and-coming companies. Dealers will be able to check out summer and back to school products first hand, and know what they will be getting before they place an order.

You have to appreciate the work that goes into making a magazine. Sometimes you take it for granted but there is a lot of thought put into every issue. Take the cover of issue 36. Very colourful with the top left corner's green matching the green bike of and the red rail standing out. The rider's eyes are marked in black by the handlebars giving it a criminal look. Without the "Free Poster" and 100 more cover captions, the cover looks great. I'm sure Romain Babeau is stoked on it. There are some Dutch bikes in the Soulfood article. Photographer Hadrien Picard goes colourful in the Sommaire page with different colour flashes set up at the same curved wallride. Lots of BlahBlah text (in French) in the news section. The season must have started. DVD reviews, calendar, a trip around France with district news, Tony Pereira's bike check, product news, Vancouver scene report, Shaun Butler interview, report on the Hungarian scene and a Ghetto Fabulous article. Looks like this summer will have tons of events going on. Actually it's too much to be at all events ourselves. One of the main series that is going on this summer will be the Dew Action Sports tour. We received an invitation to cover this series of high-bucks contests but it looks like we won't be able to make it to any of these rounds.
