The Time Trials just took place in London. It's not a medal sport (that would suck) but this way they're building the brackets for tomorrow's racing. Raymon van der Biezen took first, Joris Daudet got second and Twan van Gendt got the third fastest time in London. Caroline Buchanan won the women class in front of Sarah Walker and Mariana Pajon. Haro BMX Rider Brooke Crain Gets Olympics Start Calif. girl steps-up for injured teammate in London Haro Bikes today announced team rider Brooke Crain, 19, of Visalia, Calif., will represent the United States of America in 2012 Olympic BMX competition. The late announcement follows the tragic injury of Arielle Martin, who remains hospitalized after sustaining a lacerated liver and other injuries during training this past Monday. USA Cycling released an official press release on Aug. 1, stating that Martin had been withdrawn from Olympic competition, heralding Crain in as her alternate.

“I’m devastated for my teammate, Arielle,” says Crain. “She deserves to be on the track in London more than anyone. But I will look forward to representing her and my country as I live out my Olympic dream.”

The road to the Olympics was both physically and emotionally tumultuous for Crain from the start of the year. Competition

Ikonix SX1 Prototype Race Bike Debuts at Design Museum in London. Here is a spy shot (by Sean Hargraves) of my prototype Ikonix SX1 race bike I've created for the Designed to Win exhibit at the Design Museum in London. Here's some spec on the Ikonix SX1:

The Mellowpark in Berlin is an amazing place. It has held many events but then all of a sudden they needed to move. That move has been made and the new place is looking better and better. Missing was a BMX track so a concept was worked on to get something good going. Together with Red Bull the R.Evolution BMX race was created. The race will be held on August 24th at the Mellowpark and the BMX track is being created as we speak. The top pro BMX racers, along with some Freestyle riders with BMX skills, will get together on the giant starting hill

USA Cycling announced Wednesday Olympic BMX cyclist Arielle Martin (Spanaway, Wash.) suffered an injury during routine training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., on Tuesday. Due to her injuries, Martin will be unable to make Wednesday's scheduled trip to London and will be replaced on the U.S. Olympic BMX Cycling Team by Brooke Crain (Visalia, Calif.). "Arielle has worked extremely hard and was on top form heading into the Olympic Games," explained USA Cycling V.P. of Athletics Jim Miller. "Unfortunately, she suffered an injury during her final training session before leaving for the Games. She certainly would have contributed to our efforts in London and will be missed by the entire squad."

Martin was transported to San Diego's Mercy Hospital Tuesday afternoon where she is receiving treatment for her injuries. The 27-year-old is expected to make a full recovery. Martin was set to begin competing in her first Olympic Games on Wednesday, August 8.
