The RedBull Crashed Ice event wouldn’t be of any interest to me if they had not planned a bike race at the happening. Joost Wichman told me about it at the Velofollies in Belgium and after that it was a bit of a hunt to get a media pass to cover the event. After some help from different corners the media pass was arranged and it was off to Valkenburg together with FATBMX designer Rolf Thijssen. It had snowed about 4 inches prior to the event which made Holland white, and cold at the same time. We got there early to see if we could hook up with the bike riders for the event:

Rick Koekoek. It was harder than we hoped it would be to meet up so we started walking up the hill along the boarding. It was actually pretty nuts seeing an ice track with berms and jumps all over the place. The Mellowpark crew was brought in to build the technical parts of the track as
