Here's an update from Raymon van der Biezen himself. The clip showing his dedicated can be watched after the break. "My wrist is getting better, because the doctor told me I could use my left arm again… January 2nd I had to go back to the hospital to check for the recovery of my wrist. Fortunately the doctor had some good news: they could see bone growing at the most important spot in my wrist, so that means I was allowed to start using my left arm again slowly.

Right now I’m working with the physiotherapists everyday. We have a long way to go before I can move my wrist like it should be and the improvement is going slowly, but it’s a start. I can do things already that I didn’t expect, like doing sprints on my BMX… It will take some time before I can ride the BMX track again, because the wrist is still too painful to hit the jumps and I can just hold on my handlebars during sprints. My goal is to race the first World Cup in the US at the end of March."

The 2012 Redline Cup Series will begin in the east region at Thrifty Acres Indoor BMX in Greenville, Michigan this weekend on January 14. The qualifying series will feature races in the east, central, and west regions of the United States and Canada. Qualifying for the finals will conclude at Grand Valley BMX in Grand Junction, Colorado, August 25. With the qualifying series spanning over 8 months and featuring 24 qualifying races in the central region, 27 qualifying races in the east region, and 25 races in the west region, this 76 race regional series is sure to have a qualifying race near you.

It feels like yesterday, the thought of 2008 BMX’s Olympic debut. Its been four years since MTN/Qhubeka BMX rider Sifiso Nhlapo competed in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games where BMX was being show cased for the first time. Skizo at that stage had the pressure of the nation on his shoulders as SA had not won a medal yet, the Olympic dream came to a dramatic end for the young South African crashing in the second turn in a possible medal position. 2009 seemed to be the year Skizo would bounce back and was consistently making finals and winning in Europe till Nhlapo crashed in training before the last round of the European Championships and broke his neck, fracturing his C3 & C4 vertebrae.

Skizo spent the next 10 months with rehab, physio and getting fit as his goal was to race the 2010 World Championships in PMB in front of his sponsors, fans, family
