Pan American Championship BMX cycling kicks-off Friday (Oct. 21) at the CODE Saint Nicholas in Guadalajara. Team USA, ranked No. 2 in the UCI Nations ranking behind Australia for women and No. 3 behind France and Australia for men, will be represented by two riders in both the men’s and women’s event. The Pan American Games offers category 5 UCI points that count toward the nation ranking, which determines the number of start spots the U.S. earns for the 2012 Olympic Games. The men are represented by the No. 1 and 2-ranked BMX riders in the overall UCI rankings, Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev.) and Nic Long (Lakeside, Calif.), respectively. Long won

MTN-Qhubeka’s Sifiso Nhlapo (aka Skizo 105) was in Harare, Zimbabwe over the weekend of 15 and 16 October, competing in the Africa Challenge 2011. The BMX rider knew that competition would be stiff, with all his rivals from the previous weekend’s SA Grand Nationals also taking part. Nevertheless, he came away with the win – a fantastic result that cements his return to the sport after knee surgery earlier this year. “I was very excited to get back on the track and not only enjoy this race, but also use it as training to get some full laps in with race conditions,” said Skizo. “The track in Zimbabwe is always good – by far one of the best tracks in Southern Africa. It always makes for good racing. The competition was pretty much the same as the previous weekend, which I knew would make for some good racing. Weather conditions were hot, so staying hydrated was very important. The race program for the weekend was going to be a long one. We had three qualifying motos in the first leg and another three qualifying motos and a main in the second leg, making it a 7-lap race day.” 
I had an awesome action packed couple of days in Vegas over the weekend. The ABA National rounds & Redline Cup were held in Boulder City, the dirt jump finals of the Dew Tour were on and I was a tourist checking out the Hoover Dam, America’s largest dam. I stayed in the States after the last World Cup to compete in 7 ABA BMX National Series rounds to collect my world ranking points. It felt quite strange to be
