With the establishment of the BMX AIR team and its start as the first German BMX trade team in January 2011 BMX racing in Germany receives a professional platform and new sporty impulses. It has been confirmed by the directors that the financing for the 2011 season is secured. BMX racing is since the summer games in Peking 2008 an Olympic discipline. This has given the sport increased meaning for the youth world-wide. Also in Germany, BMX inspires racing and has a good inlet for young riders. New associations and numerous new tracks are being built.

“BMX racing as an achievement sport, appeals to the young with a coolness appeal and fun factor, with the ability to achieve. With BMX we bring the youth on the right track”, say Francisco Bähr, managing director of the BMX Race team in Hessen’s Dreieich. Bähr has himself set a goal to support the development of the BMX as a sport in Germany at a professional level.

VSI Products is pleased to announce that it will take over the management of the Intense/Phantom/OnTrac Team (IPOT). The change will result in the team being divided into two-Factory Intense and Factory Speed-and the addition of three of the world's top professionals. Through Intense, VSI has always been the primary financial backer of the team, in addition to the number-one source of bicycle and components. Next season, VSI will provide even more financial and product support. 

Global SX Events, Inc., (GSX) announced today that Johan Lindström will assume the role of CEO. This week, GSX announced that it will take over the general management of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, for which it will hold part of the organization and marketing rights. In addition, GSX Events will also be the UCI partner in another field: the UCI’s BMX track building service.

VSI Products has again signed on as the main sponsor of the USA Cycling Junior Development BMX program. VSI became a supporter of the program in 2009, providing product, technical support and cash funding, and will continue in that role through the end of the program's season in July. As it did last year, VSI will provide support to USA Cycling's series of quarterly junior development camps in the form of product, including frames, components and accessories from Intense BMX, SINZ Elite and SINZ, Intense Tyres and THE Products.

The International Cycling Union is pleased to announce its partnership with Global SX Events Inc (GSX Events) which will hold part of the organization and marketing rights for the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series. The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, the world’s leading BMX racing series, serves as the main qualification event for the 2012 Olympic Games. Introduced by the UCI in 2003, this series of races has revitalized BMX with its exciting and spectacular Supercross format.

UCI will maintain its role in governing the sport and will continue to draw up and manage the international calendar as well as establish the regulations for international competition.
