Oh man, Andy Shohara! Almost forgot about that name until this flyer showed up. The "Flyin' Hawaiian" used to live and ride in the UK. Why someone would move from Hawaii to England remains the question but Andy was a rad vert rider who showed up in almost every issue of R.A.D. magazine sporting his Town & Country wear. Now Andy is having a birthday jam at the Krause Family park in San Diego this Saturday (Nov. 24th) and the people who are supposed to show up will make this a BMX freestyle reunion right off the bat. Names added to the list are Andy Patterson, Ron Wilton, Ron Camaro and possibly Mike Dominguez and Bob Osborn. If they all will get out of bed on a Saturday to meet at 08:45am at the park remains to be seen.

Coming up with a new cover idea every month can be difficult. You can take a rad action shot but doing spomething special is usually the better idea. It requires some more effort but the result is always there. This cover shows Ashley Charles doing a barspin jump off a plank with a few brinks underneath. Not quite the extra labour to build that jump but it makes for a good cover anyway in front of that white (studio) wall. The December issue is full of interviews (Chris Doyle, James Hitchcox, Clint Reynolds, Tom Blyth, Martyn Tambling, Shad Johnston, Anthony Lille, James Cox and Ralph Sinisi) and has its fair share of jams and road trip reports. The backcover of the Eastern Bikes D.I.Y. Roadtrip DVD sums up the free goodie perfectly. Who are we to try to say it any better. "Eastern Bikes decided to take some of the team on a little roadtrip. The plan was to ride, have fun, take photos and shoot some video. Well, the photographer had to work and the video guy fell through. Not stopping us from going anyway, we decided to do everything ourselves. You'll notice some out of focus pics, more than enough dirty lens shots and a few sketchy camera angles.

You know what sucks? Building trails for 5 years and then finding out that out of the blue the local council has plowed them. The Hellentrails locals were mad, very mad, and demanded the local council to support them to get them back up. They did and they've never been better. Seems ages since I tapped these computer keys and typed out an update for you but for these last 2 weeks we have been waiting for some important confirmations from the Craig Hospital and it is only today that I feel confident enough to spill some juicy juicy news---more about that later in this bulletin. During my last trip out to stay with Stephen we saw some huge changes in his breathing abilities and we were on a countdown to try and get rid of the trach from Stephens neck which has been keeping him alive for the last 21 weeks via the life support machine[ ventilator]. The large diameter plastic trach with the speaking valve and inner balloon was removed with a lousy yelp from Stephen, it really hurt me just watching let 

Banksgiving in Santa Ana, CA went down as a backyard shredfeast of all-out BMX mayhem. Local So-Cal pro, Ben Snowden opened up his backyard park to some 500 + riders and countless pro’s, everyone that got a chance to take a run rode away with a smile. Nate “If you build it, they will come” Wesell constructed a set up that featured a 15ft. quarter pipe, banging box jump, and an 8 foot rooftop drop-in, and the riders came out in force.

We have just come back from the jam, organized by nosoccer.com and callemarconi.com on the occasion of the Milan bicycle film festival. More than 40 riders from all over Italy got together at the famous concrete pool in Milan. Though it was very cold, no-one gave up riding! At last even in Italy the riders are more and more enthusiastic to participate to the jams! Enjoy the pics.

Sometimes we get sent e-mails and they end up burried in the inbox somewhere. It's not uncommon to have a few thousand e-mails in that Outlook Express Inbox. Making it down to the bottom of the list is tough as new ones keep coming in on the top. It's not our intention to not reply to someone but sometimes it just happens. I remembered that Louis Mikolay had sent a couple of e-mails with some links to videos he had finished. He then sent a mail telling that his website has received a major update.
