Organizers of the Interbike International Bicycle Expo (Interbike) announced that they have signed a three-year agreement with the Mandalay Bay Convention Center (MBCC) to host the cycling industry’s premier tradeshow beginning in 2013 and continuing through 2015. Interbike believes that the move to the MBCC will provide exhibitors with improved ROI and deliver an enhanced experience for its attendees. The popular OutDoor Demo product testing event held for the two days preceding Interbike, will remain at the Bootleg Canyon venue in nearby Boulder City, NV. The 2013 Interbike show will be held from
September 18 – 20, 2013 and the OutDoor Demo event will run September 16th and 17th.
Interbike 2012 is also shaping up to be one of the largest and most dynamic shows in years. Several manufacturers that were not at Interbike in previous years have re-committed to the 2012 show in Las Vegas. Some examples include Niner Bikes, Fox Head Inc, Zoot, Enve Composites, Six Six One and Spy Optics. Additionally, a number of highly visible brands are currently in discussions to exhibit at the show. Another indicator of the momentum building for 2012 is the number of exhibitors that increased their booth space. Twelve key exhibitors have increased their presence at Interbike 2012, demonstrating their commitment to the show.
“Moving to the MBCC will allow us to create an even more dynamic event for the market,” said Pat Hus, Interbike’s managing director. “Our goal for the show is the constant pursuit of improvement, and this is a vital step in that quest. We’re looking forward to being able to reinvent the show by adding more events, celebrations and providing more riding opportunities with the expansive outdoor areas at the MBCC. Additionally, there are several great attractions at the MBCC including the House of Blues, Mandalay Beach, 28 full-service restaurants, a greater hotel selection that meets every budget, casinos, and more. We will be creating new events and activities all with the idea of keeping us together and engaged more in one location.”
The MBCC will also allow the Interbike team and its exhibitors the opportunity to create a new floor plan with product-segmented neighborhoods and better traffic flow patterns making it easier to shop the show. Exhibitors will benefit in 2013 from an improved move-in and move-out experience due to the increased number of loading docks and freight doors.
Interbike organizers have set up a web page with more details and information about the move to the MBCC at: interbike.com/2013. This page will be updated with new information as it becomes available.
The MBCC first opened in 2003 and is among the nation’s largest and most modern event facilities, offering 1.7 million square feet of exhibit and meeting space. As part of MGM Resorts International, it is conveniently connected to the Mandalay Bay Hotel and THEhotel. The venue is easily accessible by a range of other hotels that will also be offered through Interbike’s hotel room block.
Through its innovative design and operating practices, the newer convention center generates a lower environmental impact that is more in-line with the cycling industry’s sustainability values. They have been awarded a 5-Green Key Eco-Rating which covers many operational areas as well as sustainable practices throughout the facility. In addition, an average of 81% of all convention waste is recycled.
Showcasing nearly 1,200 cycling brands, Interbike is now in its fourth decade of serving the bicycle industry. The 2012 week-long gathering begins with the OutDoor Demo (September 17-18, 2012 in Boulder City, Nevada), followed by the Interbike Expo, September 19-21 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.
