At Athlete Recovery Fund I have worked a very dedicated and hard road to establish support for pro's who are injured in BMX, Skate and FMX. In the past 6 years ARF has raised over a million dollars in one of the toughest economies ever seen. ARF has helped numerous pro's and their families with many different levels of injuries and even death.
As one person knocking on the same doors year in and year out ARF is ready to expand. I was recently contacted by the great people at Road 2 Recovery (R2R) who helped guide us through the startup process of becoming a non profit and I am very excited to say that we will be joining forces in 2014 and beyond. R2R has supported professionals in Motocross and Supercross since the year 2000.
The opportunities that R2R and its board of directors can bring to the table in action sports is impressive and necessary to get to the next level. Right out of the gates ARF and R2R will accomplish a long term goal which was to expand into other action sports! This is an exciting time and I couldn't be happier with where we are headed.
Part of the success of R2R is the fact that they have been able to build an endowment fund that instantly provides for pro's who suffer career ending injuries. This will be our first order of business to raise the funds needed to establish a separate endowment just for Action Sports.
Read the official press release below and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding this change. ARF will be phasing into the Road 2 Recovery name, and I am honored to be a solid part of that process into the future.
Sincerely,
Aaron Cooke
