Where can people find your booth?
You can find us in the BMX section, booth 5545.
Why in the BMX zone?
We only make and sell BMX bikes and parts so it just makes sense to be in the BMX area.
In general, what are the tough things to battle when developing new products?
Coming out with a new products in a timely manner, it always ends up taking much longer to see the final product then you would expect.
Do you fancy going to Taiwan to follow up on the development process and to negotiate pricing?
Personally I really enjoy going to Taiwan to check out a new factory, work on a new project or oversee a production run. I don't care for the price negotiating part all that much though.
Who are some of the riders that give good feedback on the products that make your life easier?
Definitely the team riders, the people that work at Kink and also some of the Rochester local riders who usually get to see new Kink products before anyone else.
Do you have secret product testers out there or do the team riders take care of that?
No, just team riders or friends.
Big tires, big bars, slammed seats, small gearing and lightweight. What's next?
I think more affordable parts might be one of the next things.
How hard is it to come up with a colour for your products?
For some reason it seems to be really hard, I always pass that off to our art guy Aaron Burto.
Are you scared of the mandatory paint/colour testing or do you not worry about that yet?
Zack and I keep a close eye on the situation and do what we need to do.
How important is pricepoint for your products?
Price is definitely an important aspect of our products. Sometimes it can be pretty tough making decisions on when to sacrifice some aspect of a new product to keep the price down, or deciding that feature is worth the extra money to the customer.
Can you explain how hard it is to put an original idea into a final product?
That definitely depends on the product, sometimes an idea just comes out on paper really well and just works out. Other times you have an idea and you know it could be great, but you keep running into problem after problem along the way.
What is a 2010 product you designed that you are most proud of?
I'm really happy with Sean Sexton's new frame, the Issue. He gave me some good input on what he wanted and I kind of filled in the gaps. I think it really turned out to be an awesome frame all around.
What's the worst design in BMX at the moment?
Bikes bigger than 20". I think BMX companies need to just focus on what they are good at and continuing to improve BMX bikes and parts. Just my opinion though!
What do you think is a clever product?
The new revision of the removable Fly brake mounts are pretty sick.
Why do people need to look into your brand?
If they are looking for some quality made stuff from a rider owned and run company, then check us out!
