SE Bikes is proud to present this awesome video: “Mike Buff in His Own Words”. Buff was one of the original pioneers of freestyle BMX in the early ‘80s. He toured the country with the BMX Action trick team, performing shows introducing freestyle BMX to the world.

Head Sport, the Austrian firm best known for its skis and tennis rackets, has acquired Advanced Sports Enterprises (ASE), the parent of Performance Bicycle and cycling brands including Fuji, SE Bikes, Kestrel, and Breezer, for $21.5 million at a bankruptcy auction. Advanced Sport Enterprises, parent to BMX brand SE Bikes, as well as other marquee brands in the cycling industry, such as Fuji and Kestral, filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection on November 16. The company was heavily invested in retail, via its Performance Bicycle shops, which operated in 19 states, with over 100 locations. The retail bicycle business is definitely not what it used to be– and that, coupled with being admittedly undercapitalized, led to the circumstances that precipitated the filing.

If you thought we couldn’t top last year’s line of bikes, you better think again! For our 2018 line of bikes, we have refined our line-up and gone back to our roots. Mike Buff is a BMX pioneer who helped introduce freestyle BMX to the world. As one of the original godfathers of freestyle, Mike rode a PK Ripper in the early 1980s when he was a member of the legendary BMX Action Trick Team. The Mike Buff Big Ripper resonates with the same style of the PK Ripper that Mike made famous, but this year’s version is built with big ol’ 29” wheels.

Perry Kramer Rejoins SE Bikes. The man who put the “PK” into the iconic PK Ripper BMX bike from SE is returning to the fold. Perry Kramer helped Scot Breithaupt launch SE Racing and kick off the BMX phenomena in the late 1970s with SE Racing’s legendary PK Ripper. Kramer will be the Southern California territory manager for Advanced Sports International brands, which includes SE Bikes.
 
Kramer said he is excited to be back with SE, which is seeing an explosion in sales with the introduction of the 29-inch Big Ripper and the growth of the BikeLife wheelie movement. “It's definitely cool to sell a PK Ripper or a Floval Flyer race bike, as those are what I rode,” Kramer said, adding that SE’s retro and 29-inch bikes are re-connecting riders to their pasts. “The bikes now relate to guys in my — old — age bracket. It really amazes me how many guys still are so connected to the SE brand, and I'm happy to be back and part of it.”
