The Mongoose guys have been blogging away on their bike sponsor's site. Simon Tabron test drove a whole bunch of exotic cars before making a final decision. Starting with the Gator Nationals in West Palm Beach, Florida, pros will have the chance to race three big NBL weekends over the next two months. That means six big races with big cash payouts and points, plus all the 2008 NBL Pro races feature Pennant pre-races, UGP Opens, BAWLS bunny-hop contests, and much more.

BMX racing heats up this weekend with the UCI Oceania final two ranking rounds in Sydney at Penrith. The vital international points up for grabs on Saturday and Sunday are the incentive for other countries apart from Australia to compete. Riders from New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong and China have all got riders hoping to make the finals on both days and secure UCI points. The incentive to improve nation’s rankings comes from the qualification criteria set down for the Beijing 2008 Olympics Games in August. Australia are hoping to qualify the maximum number of riders allotted which is three male and two female riders.

Currently in the men Australia is ranked in the top three however it is the women’s current standing of four. According to National BMX Assistant coach, Wade Bootes, his focus will definitely be on the women’s racing. “It’s important for all the girls to keep high. For this weekend, it means they need to be one to four and it doesn’t matter which way. The girls just have to ride safely and not crash or put people into last.”

From then on, you can vote for your favorite rider on our website. On the 22nd of March, we will announce the winners during a booming award show in the Winston club in Amsterdam. The Moora Cup, or: the Meest Oer Originele Rijder Award Cup, is an annual initiative to support the Dutch BMX scene. This way, Dutch BMX riders get the chance to show what they have achieved over the past year and get rewarded for it in the right way. 

In the early 80's when BMX freestyle was in its infant stages, a crew of BMX riders & skateboarders converged on Golden Gate Park in San Francisco to ride & skate together. Out of this crew was formed the world famous Curb Dogs. They laid the foundations for later generations of BMX street riders with creativity on & off their bikes. One of the most prominent members of the crew was Dave Vanderspek who could famously do bar height tabletop bunny hops from virtually standing still. Dave sadly passed away in late 1988 but

Here we are - the Suzuki BMXMasters homepage is online tomorrow, March 7th at 5 pm central european time. It features a total relaunched design and will give you all news and information about the Suzuki BMXMasters 2008. Also you will find cool pics and sequences from last year.

The site is very easy to navigate and gives you all the information you will need, whether it be directions to the contest site or accommodation details, through to up-to-date information about competing riders and the disciplines being offered. Boy-o-boy weeks fly by quick. It's Friday already so time to type up all the news from this week, and there was loads. On Saturday we packed the Vito and drove over to the BMX Playground in Veldhoven for the WhoZnext jam. It's got an indoor BMX track with starting gate, a few street obstacles for the kids to play on, a massive foampit and a great spine/quarter/jump box set up. It was pretty packed too. In the far corner some trails are in the works so we will be making a trip back to the BMX Playground in the next few weeks to check that out and give you a full spot check. It was hard to get Philip back into the van, I tell you.

-An indoor spot that will see the end of day on 16 March is the Abflughalle in Grevenbroich, Germany. The indoor trails spot has been a great location for everyone to ride when the weather was shite. Also the resi-section and foam pit helped lots of riders work on tricks that would have hurt more when trying on the frozen dirt. One last contest will take place at the Abflughalle on 15 March. Show your respect.
