What brought you to Helsinki last weekend?
Philip Kölsch: Well, it was the weekend of the Stadi Session, so it was kinda sure for me that I wanna be there.
Was the Stadi session comparable to the Simpel Sessions that you’ve visited?
Philip Kölsch: It was definetly different compared with the winter Simpel Sessions. But that doesn't mean that it was less good!

I have been in Tallinn for the summer Simpel Session last year and it was awesome. Just everything was great (even though the weather sucked). So I expected it to be like this this year in Helsinki too and I have not been disappointed (the weather was great too haha). To sum it up: It's smaller than the Simpel Session but the mood was as good as at the Simpel Session. It was a great event in a cool city!
Who of the riders impressed you the most?
Philip Kölsch: That's not that easy to say, there were so many good riders. But since you want an answer, I'd say that Bruno Hoffman, he's so consistent, pulls almost everything first try and very clean. Kevin Kalkoff's runs were fully packed with style, a real treat to watch and then of course Sergio Layos, I don't think I need to tell you more about his riding. Hennon is a mad man!
Which rider that you’ve never heard rode very well in the contest?
Philip Kölsch: hm...I'd have to lie about that one to answer honestly. I have seen most of the "unknown" guys already riding before in the baltics. But somebody who is quite new to the big contest scene is a lithuanian called Deividas Budkovas. I think he will impress more people from all over at the Simpel Session next year in Tallinn, for which he qualified himself last friday.
Do you believe that Risto & Mario and their crew can put up events wherever they want to and make them good?
Philip Kölsch: I don't know about all places of the world, but as long as it's possible to build some ramps there, then I think they could figure it out to make it a pretty good contest for everyone.
Why should people go to the Summer Sessions up in that corner of the World?
Philip Kölsch: Well, first of all its always cool to get to new places, isn't it? And a place that's fun in Winter at -15 degrees is even better in summer when the weather is nice and you can also ride the spots outside or enjoy the city. The contest itself is very good organized with the aim to make everyone have a good time. And the spectators are so into the whole thing like I haven't seen it anywhere else before.

Were the parties any good?
Philip Kölsch: The party was good, the club was cool. But honestly its still a bit better in Tallinn.
Will you be back next year?
Philip Kölsch: YES! In winter and summer, in Tallinn and Helsinki!
