The competition morphed into a jam with each rider having 2 runs which both counted towards their final score. Tyrone Bradley made the most of the park and had the lines hitting rails and blasting transfers over ledges. Red Bull fueled Capetonian Buddy Chellan has that Sergio Layos style wanting you to pick up your bike and blast while pro class winner Malcolm Peters had great consistency with dialed tricks. Brothers from the Riot store in Johannesburg Greg and Brad Illingworth were down for the weekend and threw down flips, huge airs and transfers between the two of them. Durban based bmx animal Colin Loudon was going for a 360 spin the whole day but just didn't quite land it. Instead he settled for over clicked look backs, whips and high speed transfers. Mongoose rider Brad Roulette and DK's Matt Mcleod represented the dirt guys. Brad had the airs while Matt had the backflip variations: flip whip, no handed flip. Props to Chris Barnes who landed a huge 3 whip transfer from jump box, over ledge to flatbank.
After everyones runs were done all the riders swamped the course and carried on riding. I put my camera away and snuck over to the most awesome snake run you have ever seen on the far side of the park and sessioned with Roulette. Some of the people who work at the park have it in their minds that bikes cause huge damage to concrete so luckily our riding was not cut short.
Overall a great comp and not boring or played out at all. Nobody hurt themselves and we missed the rain. Good times.
