If everyone would be as into BMX as Al Dimino is, the sport would be kicking even more ass. Al flew out West and organized a contest with the help of some friends. Here's the report on his trip:
What a trip it was! First time ever on a plane, was excited..thing took off and I was like "wow this is sick" then after feeling a little out of it I busted out the cd player and Atreyu was rockin it and kept me chill. I then landed in Orange County and outside waiting for me was
Ricky "Ratt" Vigil. Guided by a cell phone I found Rick and we were psyched to take on the mission that was in store for the weekend. BMX Invasion Battle #3 at Real Ride Park in Lake Perris, CA. The scenery and weather was so awesome, I was taking photo's left and right. I had about 287 photo's at the end of my 4 and a half day stay!!
Me and Rick went up to Real Ride the night before the contest and rode the park until 10:30 PM. I got to meet the owner Mark and he is a cool dude and owns mad skateparks and is straight up business! He had the comp all organized and set up to go when we arrived on Saturday (Apr 2nd) Thanks Mark for letting us have this contest at Real Ride Skate Park!!!
The day of the comp, I met up with buddy
Kurt Siever who is CA. Resident! Kurt was shreddin it along with alot of other rider's who entered on Saturday!
James Foster took all in the Pro, winning 1st and also winning best trick! Hell yeah, thanks to S&M and Revenge Industries for suppying crazy product!! S&M Stricker frame went to our first place winner in Expert!! Thanks to our other co-sponsors like Volume Bikes, Demolition, Dans Comp, East Coast Destruction, Elite Footwear and I like to thank Jason "Dogger" at IMPACT Signs & Designs for making the rad BMX Invasion & Direct BMX.com Winner Plaques and also for supplying some sticker banners!! Dogger can make anything!
Ryan "Barspinner" Brennan, Shaun Bulter, Cory "Midget" Walters, Shane Dogg, were judges at the comp and did an awesome job!!! TEAM SOIL REPRESENT!!! Lance was throwing down the huge backflips and flowing the park, he is a Team Soil Shredder! I rode for a little bit and had fun watching and riding with everyone! So much good stuff went down it was wild,
BMX Plus! was there to capture the event also!! Thanks to all the contest rider's and supporters for making the comp a happening time!!! West Coast Style!!!
After the comp Ricky "Ratt", Butler, Barspinner, Midget, and Myself went to X-Games Super Star Dirt Jumper
Stephen Murray's House!
Man, his lawn is so sick I can't even tell you! Crazy trails, people were shreddin' there and a party was going down. Stephen Murray showed me his wheels..BMW 745I and that thing had some Kicker blastin' from the trunk! I had a fun time chillin' out there with everyone and getting the tour.. After the night ended I went back to my hotel and passed out.
Woke up the next day and me and Ricky "Ratt" Ventured off to Huntington Beach and if you've seen the S&M ad where Chris Moeller was doing a gnarly wallride with a beach cruiser giving the cowabunga.. we got to ride that wall and I kept repeating rider stoned cause the ad!
It was so awesome to put tire marks on the "s&m wall", I was psyched...only wild thing about that day was riding in like 50mph winds haha..no joke..pedaling at the wallride was a challenge of its own, but we didn't care..we even went down to the sand and walked in the water..well Ratt just jumped in clothes and all and froze his bum off LOL!! I rolled up my pants and put my feet in the Pacific Ocean for the first time.
After that we took a trip over to S&M and in attendence was
Chris Moeller, Nate Moroshan, Nick Benson, Chris Stevenson, Sean McKinney and
Neal Wood. Thanks Nate Moroshan for giving me the tour of S&M's Factory. I went to school for Machine Shop so I was psyched to take a walk by the machines and check out the production! After hanging out for a little while
me and Ratt were off to Barspinner's Pad to chill out. Barspinner showed me some Team Soil video's and they were awesome! Team Soil has a great team. Also got a call from Pop's he said I got in a New DANS COMP ad in the new 20 BMX magazine, I'm psyched!
I called S&M up to see if me and Rick could come by for a little bit, I had a few hours left before my plane to go home was ready for blast off. Got some pictures with Chris Moeller and I like to thank him again for everything he has done for me and also the staff at S&M/Fit. Chris handed me a
prototype stem to test out and I feel honored to have it! I just built up a new Green Stricker with Chrome S&M 3/8 Race Fork and have the prototype all set up and I'm ready to shred! This has been my wild west trip!!!
Thanks Ricky "Ratt" and everyone for showing me a great time!!! -Al DiMino
