The spot has become amazing and although some jumps may still be too impressive for some, the locals learned how to dig and shape their own spot. Therefore the place will probably evolve in one of the best dirt spots in the Netherlands.
After the Red Bull crew parked their Hummer, the beat was on. Some Red Bulls were handed out and Mischa started talking shit on the mic. Everybody was thanked, including Piet Paulusma (dutch weatherman).
The riders started warming up and the (still very soft) dirt jumps got a rough massage treated from some high pressure rubber tires.
At 3pm the spot was officially opened by ruining a perfectly good bottle of cheap champagne.
If the HDT coach were here, he would make sure that the bottle would be emptied first.
But then the weather turned for the worst. First a few small drops, but shortly after the jumps turned into some slippery trails. Most people took shelter from the rain underneath the Red Bull tent.
Some of the BMXers however continued the session at the local (indoor!) skatepark Burnside. Pim v/d Bos (Pauls Boutique gang member) just learned how to do flairs and he pulls them clean as a whistle.
While the Deventer locals still have to get accustomed to their new dirt spot, the Red Bull Backyard Digger Team were already thinking about their next stop in Zoetermeer from 5-7 August at the Sweet Trails spot next to Snowworld.
After that, from August 10-12, the diggers will be in Doetinchem to prepare the first lines for a brand new freeride bikepark.
