contests he has entered this year, including every stop of the AST Dew Tour. He said his goal is to win all five stops of the tour.
In BMX vert, Chad Kagy won the event, ending Jamie Bestwick's season-opening AST Dew Tour winning streak at two. The 29-year-old Kagy, from Gilroy, Calif., earned 95.00 on his final run, which included a flatspin 540 double tailwhip and thrust him into first place. Bestwick, the only rider remaining, fell in his run to finish second at 94.17. Australia's Steven McCann finished third at 91.50.
"The top of the podium is always your goal coming into a competition," Kagy said. "The first two events I was in second place behind Jamie. There was only one place for me to go and that's ahead of him."
Bestwick still holds the lead in the points standings, but Kagy is eager to surpass him.
"Tightening up the points at the third stop means I've got two more chances to get in front of Jamie," Kagy said. "You never know what can happen when we've got two events to go."
Luke Parlsow won the BMX dirt event Friday in the Wendy's Invitational. In BMX dirt, Parslow was tied with Corey Nastazio going into the final run when he executed a technical run earning an average score of 92.25. Nastazio, of West Palm Beach, Fla. fell on his run and finished second with 91.09. Australian Corey Bohan was third with 90.75.
"I qualified last and while I was excited to get in, starting first is a tough spot," Parslow said. "My first run went well and then I put together the ride of my life." On his third run, Parslow landed a front flip, a 360 and a double backflip.
The four-day competition, the third of five stops on the Dew Tour that features skateboarding, BMX and freestyle motocross, drew 51,133 fans. The tour will visit Salt Lake City in September and conclude in October in Orlando, Fla.
