Big UCI BMX Freestyle comps on the calendar for 2024!

February 2024 and the first UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup is happening this upcoming weekend in Enoshima, Japan. It will be a long trek to the land of the rising sun for the first round of 2024 with two other stops on the calendar for this year being Montpellier, France in May and Shanghai, China in October. With this being an Olympic year there are two more key events on the schedule before the Games take place in Paris this summer. The Olympic Qualifier Series will determine 6 of the 12 riders in each gender who will get a ticket to the Place de La Concorde in July. Add the UCI World Championships to the list (Abu Dhabi - December) and it's going to be a full season being a high level Park rider.

The three UCI World Cups this year will have Flatland as well. It was time they had a full World Cup

season and three stops is a nice series. The Japanese will have home advantage this weekend in Enoshima where the French will use their home crowd to push things to the next level in Montpellier in May at the annual FISE event which remains the contest with the biggest crowd year after year. The battle for the 2024 UCI World Cup title will be concluded in Shanghai in October with no home advantage to either the strong Japanese or French riders. Maybe the Americans will thrive there. Only time will tell.

Top dawgs in Park this year are Logan Martin, Anthony Jeanjean, Marcus Christopher and Rim Nakamura who all represent a different continent. Kieran Reilly will make sure people don't forget about Great Britain. The park design for the first round in Japan looks good, now let's hope the weather changes for the better as it doesn't look too promising right now. Fingers crossed. Heavy competition for Hannah Roberts (USA) this year will come from the Chinese. They've been catching up quickly and are on the verge of taking over the Park discipline.

So Championship-wise in 2024 we will crown:

-2024 Park and Flatland UCI World Cup Champions (Last stop Shanghai in October)
-2024 Park and Flatland UCI World Champions (Abu Dhabi in December)
-2024 OQS overall Park winners (top 6 to go to Paris2024 after stops in China and Hungary)
-Paris2024 Olympic Champions in Park (Men/Women. July 31)

Every event can be used for extra preparation for the next one (experience matters) but with a decent purse per contest it will help the athletes make a living off of BMX. Come back to FATBMX for results, pics and stories of all events mentioned above. We got you.
