Italy, you beautiful thing! Thank you for hosting at your new, incredible venue @vittoriapark_official , we could not have asked for a more immaculate setting for the Italian Qualifier. In the Women’s category it was current World Champ Christa von Niederhaeusern who took no prisoners and showed exactly why she is wearing those rainbow stripes by securing her 1st place on the podium in a time of 20.438 against newcomer Zoe Feuvrier from France. It was a third place for Slovakia’s Kristína NOVÁKOVÁ and a 4th for Sara FARINA.
Local rider Mattia Costerman secured his place in Argentina in a time a time of 18.630 against
Apparently NOT! It's more alive than ever, seeing all these young guys smashing so much on such big structures was wonderful! They all shot really well and I would have loved to film a lot more.
After 8 years we got to hang out with our Italian friends: Nicolo and Mattia Bonini. They asked me to do a clinic for the local BMX scene, so it was a win-win to give something back to the next generations, and hang out with some friends (with a surprise visit from our friend Koen).
The homie Beermx and his buddy Phillip hit the road for some good times in Switzerland and Italy. Check it out!
What would have been an undisputed star of the day is not there when I arrive to the park Alessandro Barbero, reigning national champion for the last three years will not compete due to an ankle injury sustained in practice. This shuffles the cards and gives to each athlete the opportunity to shake off the awe and give everything to aim for the title.
And what a battle it has been with Gabriele Pala, Emanuel Bettassa and Christian Falvo holding up the KOBRA BMX team flag, Francesco Mongillo returning from a serious ankle injury, Vittorio Galli from Milan, Ramon Francesconi and Lucas Vega from Genova and the local (and promoter of the idea that led to to this Olympic center) Elia Benetton.
In the qualifing (that count only for the starting order of the finals) almost everyone hold back the bangers for the final. Unfortunately Elia cannot keep his runs together after finishing first in the quali with some impressive lines and enormous flip transfer. Down in both his final runs he’ll have to wait a full year for another shot for the title. The scores are very close despite very different styles: Christian Falvo with the highest airs, Gabriele Pala with the technical combos, Emanuel Bettassa with his unique flow and style and Mongillo with an impressive trick variety.
I had the pleasure to spend two days with the Italian freestyle bmx team at their brand new training center in Roncade (TV), housed in the awesome H-Farm campus. The Italian cycling federation, with the figure of the now ex-president Renato di Rocco, worked in synergy with the owner of H-Farm Riccardo Donadon to create, during last year, an unparalleled structure in Italy.
Without chatter, with little or nothing leaked until the opening a week ago, they carried out the construction with the world leaders of Hurricane Parks, builders of the FISE circuit.
The structure is part of a new campus, together with a pumptrack built by Hurricane, already equipped

In November the crew traveled to Torino to have a session at the new skatepark. On Saturday most of them filmed some clips at the spot in Valdo Fusi, then got drunk and slept at Baudi's place. On Sunday, when the crew resurrected we rode the new park with the local homies. Good times. Filmed (in less than 24 hours) and edited by Matteo Baudracco.
