How many years has the Simple Session been running now?
Risto: It’s been 17 years in a row now. And we have done over 20 big events. I believe we’re one of the longest-running BMX and skate events in the world now.
When you started it 17 years ago, did you ever think that itwould last this long?
Risto: Of course not. I was just a 17-year-old kid. We didn’t have anywhere to ride. So we built our first skatepark in Tartu. That needed an opening event which went really well, so we threw it again the next year and so the tradition and the Simple Session was born. Still, there never was really any business plan in the beginning, it just grew somehow and it’s been a blast all these years. It hasn’t been always easy to keep the show running, though. Simple Session brings the whole worlds BMX family to Estonia to shred and spread positive vibes. The event gathers together the community of BMX where all styles of riding is respected, judged equally and everyone parties their butt off. The SS event series is one huge riders celebration where the brother and sisterhood of BMX meet in a faraway country of Estonia somewhere in North-Eastern Europe where medieval fairytale meets the post-soviet ghost. ? With 17 years of history the SS contest is one of worlds longest running BMX events with the biggest international turnout. Thanks to everyone for their continuous love and support!
For the first time at the Simple Session the Park and Street riders will have their own contest. And both classes are stacked with incredible riders leaving no doubt that each comp will be of world level. Larry Edgar and Kevin Peraza on park, and Garrett Reynolds and Courage Adams on street, just to name a few of the pros who are coming over to Tallinn, Estonia for a weekend of BMX fun.
